That’s my thinking as well as I speculated further on in my post, can’t imagine that they would keep it in the lineup for long.
Which would be fine, I guess, but the footprint of the 8 seems a bit goofy to me.
Apparently there is a new run of super6’s coming in August which seems bizarre to me, but it’s also cheaper than it used to be (~$2700).
I’d choose the Super6 keyboard just because of the longer faders that it has over all over the other models.
The Super8 looks way too big for what it does. Mostly too deep with lots of panel space. They should have used the Super6 style longer faders but instead went economy by using Gemini control boards.
The Super 6 will be their best seller, not really strange that production is to continue.
Super Gemini is apparently going to increase significantly in price in a few months.
Both the 8 and the Gemini are out of bounds for me. I use the Output Platform desk with the keyboard tray and the Super 6 with a decksaver does not have even one inch of space above. Have to pull the keyboard tray all the way out to take it off. If it were 2mm bigger it wouldn’t fit, which would be a very annoying problem!!
I lack imagination, but I’ve never created a Super 6 patch and thought ‘you know what this needs - another layer.’ I know it’s a synth and can turn its hand to a range of sounds, but it does tend to velvety loveliness. There’s only so much of that I feel a need for, so the Super 8 and the Gemini don’t really call to me.
This will sound silly, but the Super 6 reminds me of the Roland Alpha Juno, largely because the Juno’s chorus can make any patch sound lush and wide and similar to the other chorusey patches. It’s likewise with the binaural thing on the Super 6.
Jesus patches?
I think those came out a few years ago now. I haven’t gotten around to buying them yet and now my S6 is in for warranty service (long story, but I have to give props to UDO for stepping up and taking care of this). Maybe later this year. I mean, I’ll have my synth back in a few weeks, but I’m super super super super super super (see what I did there?) busy right now.
" Supertouch 49 Updates
Limited number of units still available!
On track for shipping late August.
Thanks to everyone who has pre-ordered one of the Supertouch 49 upgrade kits for the Super 6 keyboard. We wanted to give you all an update and let you know that things are progressing well and we are looking to be on track for shipping in late August. The keybeds have just landed in the UDO lab and construction is set to begin!
We have also been putting a lot of work into the installation manual, making sure that it is clear, concise and makes it as easy as possible for you folks to do the install at home.
In short, we’re well on our way to enabling all of those Super 6’s-in-waiting with polyphonic power! We will keep you all updated as we get closer to the shipping the first units. Thanks for your continued patience!"
Ordered one right now
I’m unsure it’s worth the upgrade (for me, not a keys player).
When Arturia’s fulltouch keybed was announced, I tested it as well as the Osmose and all the polyaftertouch keybeds I could find at Superbooth.
The few millimetres we get for aftertouch just can’t compare with the full range offered by the Polybrute 12 or the Osmose in terms of expression capabilities.
With MPE capable keybeds, it’s like each key works like a knob or fader, with aftertouch enabled keybeds or MPE capable pads, I find myself much more limited.
I’m much more looking forward to using a fulltouch controller with all the synths I have which support MPE (including the Super 6). Do others feel the same?
You’re not alone. I had a super6 KB originally, but traded it for a desktop after I got an osmose. I haven’t looked back since.
Handle checks out.
I hope Arturia will do a keyboard controller with that PAT keybed. Keylab Plus or whatever. That Polybrute seems like a great synth but I would need a new apartment for that.
Yes. If I had a Super 6 I’d also get a Linnstrument.
The Super 6 will certainly sound nice right out of the box with a pinch of polyphonic AT modulating its filter and amp, or with the added benefit of polyphonic pitch sliding and human vibrato. For more elaborate expressivity, you’d need to take a dive into the mod matrix in a way that may not be convenient on the Super 6.
New firmware is out!
