Anyone else impressed with ade Edmondson’s acting chops in alien earth?, bit of a revelation imho, I never really assumed him to be a one trick pony but it’s refreshing to see him do something other than comedy…
The acting in general is pretty solid in AE. They just need to get rid of the whole boy genius character, his actions and acting are the only downsides for me so far.

I’m rewatching it as we speak, agreed it’s crying shame fincher never came back to this, I think it’s some of his best work…
What crossed my mind today was - why doesn’t he ( boy genius) transfer into a synth body then he can upload all knowledge etc etc etc …why would someone need to be ill to get transferred . I suspect they’ll do it when there’s a face hugger giving him some attention
I like the show so far, I think they’ve expanded the alien universe in some interesting ways .

Finished Stick this week, nice chilled out show. Not quite Ted Lasso but not much is.
That’s when they’ll reveal it was never really a “transfer”- they just made a scan of the brains of the sick kids and uploaded the data into the synth bodies, then euthanized the sick kids…

Boy genius will make a synthetic copy of himself in that way (minus the euthanasia) so he can finally have an intelligent conversation with someone.
Alien Earth is fun. Prometheus was such a joke that I’m happy to see something better and more fun to watch.
Industry is one of my favorite shows that’s come out in recent times. The Studio was also great.
I liked industry a lot …I stopped watching the Studio , all of the in-jokes and smug self referential nonsense
… plus the non stop horrendous jazz drumming … I had enough . I think I’ve had enough of Seth Rogan … I used to like platonic but have stopped that too .
I’m finding with Alien Earth the show actually does call out some of the misgivings people have with it.
I saw people last week like ugh duh, wouldn’t they be able to monitor Slightly, but yes of course, they are.
Also, like, the ‘husband’ (I forget his name) getting loopy in the last episode about how Boy Kavalier is, well, so cavalier. I mean, it’s in his name, right?
I think the directors on this one have actually combed over ‘holes’ quite a lot, to the point so far as I’ve seen they have plugs for them all.
I burst out laughing at the “I’ll cook dinner tonight” line tho. What a classic.

Re-watching Treme too, cool vibes and I love New Orleans music. I don’t know if it’s anything like that around there in reality, but one can always dream.

Treme was very good
I visited about a year ago … only visited 1 bar with live music but they were very good
I did see people line dancing to Trap music … that was so bizarre … out in public where others could see them too .
It’s better during the day in the tourist spots … at night it was cheesy as fuck tourist bullshit on the Main Street .
Landman was good though it felt like a big advert for how great the oil industry is .
