Troubles sending sounds via sysex using C6

I am trying to send some new sounds to A4. It will not accept them. The files are .wav 44100 16 bit and I am using C6 which is supposed to convert them. Is there some secret to this or does this function just not work. I am following procedure in manual for setting up A4 to receive. I had no problems with sysex sound packs that I downloaded from internet. Do I have to convert to sysex first?

You can’t load samples into the A4.

C6’s ability to convert wavs is for use with other Elektron machines, eg OctaTrack.

OK…The sound has to be a sysex file then? Is that correct.? The system gives you the ability to download sysex sound files to +drive. I suppose you create the sysex sound file then upload it to your computer to save it. Then download it when needed. How does one convert a sound file to sysex on your computer then so the A4 understands it?

I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what the A4 is and how it works. You don’t create sounds offline and upload them. You can create them on the A4 and upload them to your computer and share them (eg. the banks on the elektron site). The A4 is a synthesizer, not a sampler so it will never read/use an audio file (eg. WAV). It will read/use .syx or similar which tells your unit the synth patch settings. This is all handled via the global menu and c6.

Thanks for the explanation. I understand the operation now.
