Trilogy MKII worth it? (thinking about purchasing Analog Rytm)

Hello,
I want a real proper (analog) drum machine for a while now. And, my choice would be the Analog Rytm MKII, but I still don’t buy it.
The cause? I’m still wondering what it will do next to my Analog Four and my Octatrack both MKII.
What it will bring to my workflow?
From what i know, there’s 2 options in AR, samples or/and analog, right?
I’ve got analog from A4 and samples from OT.
But what’s you POV about having the trilogy?
I think I miss something here about the use of AR (MKII).
Thanks in advance.

Then, why this…

?

Anyway. I’ve never used all three together (seems like overkill to me but I’m trying to be as minimal as possible at the moment, and YMMV ofc). However, I find samples limiting in terms of changing drum sounds throughout a track, so that’s the main advantage here, plus there’s something about using the analog engine along with a sample sent through the same filter/amp/FX together as one entity. Oh, and the master distortion and compressor on Rytm are amazing. I can’t see myself living without them. Even my DAW-only stuff is passed back through them because they are that good.

I don’t have all three but I’d like to have all three. Yes, if you can afford it, don’t think just do it and upload some sick Jams on the forum

Of course it depends on what you want… AR and OT have significant overlaps in functionality and they are both expensive. I had OT and sold it, AR suits my needs much better. Although sometimes I still miss my OT but I cannot justify having both, both in terms of money and complexity of setup/workflow.

Put it another way: For a drum sampler, AR is way better, and of course you have excellent drum synth engines on top of that. With OT however you have looping samples, and all kinds of OT magic without which you either can or cannot live…

A clear vision is missing, don’t buy anything before you have some kind of a vision, that is my advice.

Yes you’re right)) A clear vision…
I have a clear vision of all 3 nearby lol
I want so much an analog drum machine for so long…
Thinking about Tempest for a long time too…
But I think AR will be more accessible as I know quite well now Elektron’s machines.
And, I don’t want an 808 for example to sound like all those beat makers, or whatever…
I need something to experiment with…
For example, Tom York used it, or maybe still use it for experimenting drums, in his solo projects and have HIS sound.
That’s what i need…
I just realized that I didn’t mentioned that OT is the heart of my workflow, well that’s the purpose of it, you can tell me. So I use it as master of my MIDI’s synths.
I think @craig you made a point here in my reflections.
When you said : “I find samples limiting in terms of changing drum sounds throughout a track”
I need to experiment and this is the way i want, I guess.
@crypticresonance With covid, i save money, we can’t go out etc. so i’ve this “chance” if I can tell to save money… A bad for a good…
And I don’t really think there’s complexity with all 3, there are made to be with each others, don’t you think?
Elektron thought about all that well, when the versions MKI came out at the time.
Now, there’s a lot of (Elektron) other gears available, but I remember when I purchased my first Elektron machine (A4 MKI), the trilogy was something…
At that time i couldn’t afford it. But, water has flowed under the bridges as we say in French)
And is this, the analog drum machine that will fit?
For now, from what I read from you, I will lean much more towards a yes…
