My attempted MIDI chain is Roland MX1 > TR8 > DT> MOOG> MX1
Mx1 sets clock - and Ive been using the TR8 as main drum machine and wanting to trigger samples on the DT. What’s happening is the TR8 sequencer controls the DT tracks that I load and when a sample is triggered it runs at length of the TR8 beat (so, unable to run their course before being repeated very quickly thus completely inappropriate)
How can I trigger samples that will run their length and be independent of the host’s imported sequence?
Is this found in Trig settings? is it even possible?
as mentioned, Im very new to this and only slightly more tech savvy than my pet staffy - so go easy
Not entirely sure what you’re looking for however if you mean the samples are decaying too quickly, have a look on the Amp page and turn knob C (Decay) fully clockwise until the display reads INF for Infinite. This will play the whole sample until the end. Is this what you’re after?
It’s not the decay of it, I found that. The issue is that the sample length is cut off due to the sequenced pattern imposed on it by the TR8 or MX1. So, the sample length is the same as a beat length - I want the sample to be able to play entirely
I would like to have the DT still sync to the TR8 (MIDI out of TR8 into DT) but be able to trigger samples on the DT that are independent to the host’s (TR8’s) sequence/rhythm pattern being played.
So if I’m understanding you, you want to use the TR8 as the master sync, but want to sequence both the TR8 and Digitakt independently of each other. If this is the case, you just need to go into the midi config on the Digitakt and change all of the tracks midi channels off or onto a different channel to the TR8.
Finally got around to looking into MIDI COFIG - if anyone stumbles across this post with a similar curiosity, it was unchecking the RECEIVE NOTES box in PORT CONFIG that enabled independent trigger samples on DT that weren’t caught up in host’s sequence. yay.
