I quite like EZbot’s Octatrack trick, but have other things I need to pay for before I get an Octatrack so found a really good alternative (£150.00) using a Boss RC-5 clocked by midi from the Rytm.
I don’t like breaking things down all the way and switching, but also want to be able to go out with just the Rytm in a secure case rather than additional bits to mask the transition points; it’s a real change for me. I also don’t want to do pre programmed sets using elements placed in tracks to enable transition (same sample loop in tracks 1 & 2 for example).
While the sound in this video is quite bad, and I can’t be arsed with a talkover, I think it displays the functionality and how it can work using a looper on a DJ mixer’s aux send.
