For my set, I have track 8 recording tracks 2 and 4 (my inputs) and then set to fade between the original signals and the recording on T8 via the crossfader. Obviously, there is a click at the end of my recorded part as it cuts off while stuff is still fading out. Is there a way to fix this? I can obviously do a small fade out at the end of the sample once it’s done recording, but that causes a slight dip in sound. Any ideas on how to make this smoother?
Have you tried turning amp release up? Is amp holld set long enough?
Also have you checked the waveform of the recording at the end? Do you see any reason for clicking there?
There will be clicking cause the audio input gets cut at the end off of 0. It’s not an unexpected issue, I’m just curios as to if anyone has found ways around it.
I’ve actually never had clicks with a flex machine playing a recording, that’s why I asked about your amp env settings.
For the transition trick I usually have hold=inf and release up a little.
If it’s due to the audio cutting off not at zero-crossing/sudden change in amplitude, there’s not much you can do besides applying a fade.
Or target the click at the source and try to change the patch on the synth that’s going into OT inputs.
Here’s the setup. My Digitone and iPad go into the OT and Track 8 records the entirety of what’s coming in, then I use the transition trick to switch to that while I’m changing to a new song. Obviously, the end is not going to cross at 0 since it’s a whole bunch of synths and sounds playing at once - that’s to be expected. I just wasn’t sure if there was an easy way to fix that. I tried turning HOLD down to 127 and release down a bit so it’d fade out that little end part, but it doesn’t work. I COULD do the record 1 cycle of bars prior to when I plan on transitioning, then quickly go into the audio editor and fade out the tail, that’s just a bitch while performing. Guess there isn’t really a good solution.
Oh well.
I’m trying to figure out a transition trick too but not much luck yet. One thing I’ve read is that some people are basically setting up patterns that contain 2 tracks from the previous pattern and two from the next pattern and then using the middle one as a sort of ‘bridge’ between the two. I don’t think it really speaks to your situation but it’s one way others have done it.
Good luck!
