Transferring content from Digitakt 1 to Digitakt 2

Hi everyone,

I need your help. My Digitakt 2 is on its way to me, and I’d like to transfer all my data from my Digitakt 1 to it.

Patches, performances, etc.

So that I can play everything from my Digitakt 1 on my Digitakt 2.

I’m pretty sure you can make the appropriate backups of your dt1 in transfer (projects, sounds) then transfer to the dt2 in this order your

  • Library of samples (depending on how you do things, that might mean another transfer backup)
  • dt1 backed up sounds
  • dt1 backed up projects.

At this point your projects are playable but they are in a halfway state on the dt2, still in dt1 format. You need to do a save in each project, to complete the conversion. (read more about why HERE) The same may apply to sounds, I never tried that.

There should be an FAQ on this or pinned thread. Certainly the early versions of the manuals didn’t cover it. (CC @eangman )

EDIT: If you want more detail, feed this prompt to your favourite AI. It worked for me, came up with all sorts of hints and gotchas, and corrected misinformation:
