I was looking to use an external midi cc box to have all my track levels tweakable at once (without having to select each instrument then tweak track level knob)… but sadly it seems the track level implementation is made so that only the currently selected instrument is mapped to CC value 95… can’t get a knob per track level.
I find this a little disappointing as I thought this is kind of the most obvious thing one would want to control from an external box.
I mean having all your volumes ready to tweak, mixer style, is vital during a performance, and all other parameters benefits from the 8 others knobs to tweak them… but 12 tracks level, 1 knob?
Please update the midi cc implementation and add a CC map per track level!
Same issue on the A4 btw! A bit less of a problem as the performance mode turns your knobs into track levels control. Would still love to see this fixed.
Long overdue answer.
First of all thanks for the tip. Don’t know why I wasn’t getting that, pretty simple in fact
But after working a bit with the Rytm and an external midi controller I gotta say that mapping does not make sense. Having to use 12 channels to control the mix is a pain. My whole studio is midi wired and there’s no spare channel, I can’t send cc95 on channel 1 to 12 this will affect other synths.
The best would be to be able to address the 12 instruments level fader on one channel. Auto channel maybe? fx channel?
Probably not that hard to implement in an OS update.
I just did this…I decided not to control levels, but instead, mutes since controlling individual percussion levels isn’t that necessary. As for your midi overlapping issues, get a midi filter/router and that should resolve your problems as it did mine. Feel free to PM me if you have further questions.
Same here: I use the Octatrack as central machine to control my live setup. The Analog Rytm is greedy regarding its static MIDI implementation. I guess it evolved from Overbridge implementation since you can control everything.
A forked firmware would be great! Compile you own MIDI functionality with a closed firmware binary would be superb!
In another thread I was also looking for an update regarding the 8 knobs to control at least 8 tracks of your choice as a knob mode like the different trig modes for the octatrack.
