Track allocation for live guitar set with overdubs

Hello members of this fine community! First time poster here…

I figured out how to setup tracks with recording buffers to play my live set using external instuments played into the octatrack and then sliced and processed live. But I am not sure if the way I have set it up is efficient, and am running into problems when trying to bring in other instruments. Here is my setup:

Guitar running into input A

Track 1: thru tack - this is the audio source from guitar, have my recording channel set up. I place a recording yello trig down to play in my instrument. Rec settings Input A, TrigOne, SRC:t1, Loop: off

T2: flex track - no input, SRC: T1 (My thru track), recording buffer set to REC1

With these settings I essentiall have t2 listening to t1, so after playing my guitar, I can then place playback trigs on t2 to start sequencing and playing fx and all that fun stuff!

So now I want to do overdubs without deleting what I have already made? Do I need to set up t3 as a thru again and then t4 to a different recording buffer? Or am I wrong in thinking that I need a thru track for each recording track? So confused, the manual was unhelpful for this and tbh I figured this all out with chat gpt. Hoping to get some real human advice!

Thank you

Welcome! You don’t need an additional THRU track, just additional FLEX tracks with their respective record buffers pointed to your T1 THRU track, just like you did with T2.
