Hi there. Moving the 1st Filter cutoff produces a quite important zipper noise.
That can’t be normal.
Definitely from a steppy encoder, as modulating internally is clean.
What am I missing ?
2nd filter as well, with base and width, so not only the E encoder.
Seems weird indeed.
UI test procedure :
Can you record a video?
Honestly it’s a bit of a pain, why would it be needed ?
It’s just me holding a note and turning the encoder.
I just did it (that was fun !), everything passed the test.
I contacted support.
So weird that it happens only on my device.
Honestly I don’t know what the problem is from your original post.
For me to record is just plugging USB into phone and make the video recording the audio via de USB it shows extactly what you are talking so people that don’t know what “zipper sound” exactly means can help you as well ![]()
I genuinely don’t know how to record a video without using a Daw and an aggregated output audio device routed to OBS, so that’s why I hesitate making a video. Maybe with so guidance ? But I also find that the example I posted is quite obvious. There should be only only one frequency heard, the E3 (~330Hz) that is played but you can also hear a tone around 145Hz that is produced by the stepping encoder.
The “zipper noise” is usually produced by too little smoothing of the parameter when turning an encoder, which by nature outputs discrete, stepped values.
i can recreate the noise when cranking the freq live while a wavefinder plays, so not just your unit ![]()
Pretty simple with iOS stuff with right cable. More random results with Android…
Thanks.
I’ll see what support says about it.
But I would be very surprised that no one reported this earlier.
