thank you, not bad! I will try that now, however I will get the motu to solve the daisychain noise problem.
can i sample to the digitakt input without listening to it right? I mean no monitoring

The challenge that Elektron is probably facing is the granularity of the the SCS signal: the compressor currently can have Tracks 1-8 as a sidechain source but not subtracks. That means we can currently have a sub-track’s supertrack as the compressor’s SCS only, which obviously isn’t ideal, and I guess Elektron devs are looking into how to solve this in a suitable/performant way.
As far as I can imagine, a subtrack is just an ordinary sample but tied to a particular note on the keyboard and being able to have it as a SCS signal would be no different to the granularity of having a MultiPlayer track’s particular note as a SCS signal. Sounds like a weird design decision to be made…
I found a clean way for almost the same problem.
I have 3 sound sources I want to sample into TV, but I also don’t want tons of cables on my desk. Here is my solution :
So I have unlimited routing possibilities, without playing with big jacks cable.
I think there is something similar on OSX, on Windows you should achieve the same routing with VoiceMeeter.
I asked Gemini to help me with config, it’s all works now !
Ahaa good to know man! Sounds good!
Yeah I going into the motu way to keep things simple and also best quality and latency as possible!
My main idea is that I want to sample in both direction, not just into TV
I believe so, but don’t have the device or manual in front of me.
Yeah, there are many possibilities to shape sound with the TV. After chatting to you I became more convinced to keep TV over DTII. Btw, mine its due to arrive tomorrow
Also did you see there was an announcement yesterday about the new firmware update 1.0.1 which will be available on September 29th, and maybe another one for October if there are still bugs. Thats great news for TV users.
The trick that you just wrote about using the different subtracks as a slice machine is dope. Didnt thought about that before. How are you getting along with your unit? Are you making some new trakz? would ace to hear !
Did a gig with my TV last night. Short version of the story is it went great. Only one very small hiccup that was entirely my fuck up and nothing to do with the TV.
I’ll hit some bullet points;
SOUND QUALITY- Top notch. Punchier and beefier than my MPC, much more hi-fi than my OT. The guy who hosts this residency is a mastering engineer and he noticed a marked improvement straight away.
WORKFLOW- I kept things very simple to avoid too much risk with a new setup. each piece of music had 2 subtracks (loaded with stems) and a couple other tracks used for extra kicks/perc, bells and whistles, etc. Also used a DN2, unsync’d where I could bring in some sound design, fx, atmospheric stuff during transitions and drops. Was really cool to not sync it as it allowed me to feel more musical and spontaneous. Highly recommended.
I loaded enough stems and whatnot into a project that would give me a little over an hours worth of music without much repetition. Bootup time was maybe 15-20 seconds, tops.
This is just my experience. I didn’t use any midi and didn’t run external audio into the TV, so I can’t speak to any of those issues others are having.
I’ve also written like 4 or 5 new pieces of music since getting my TV a few days ago, so I’m very much enjoying it as a writing tool and a live performance machine. Pretty stoked.
EDIT- Also for live, using track 16 master fx as a fake control all solution is pretty fun
That’s awesome, glad to hear it went well!
sounds like a great first live spin!
did you record the set?
I’m excited to hear this for myself.
I didn’t. Honestly, I was afraid of how bad I’d messed up with a new live rig
record the next, would love to hear. sounds like you did great!
So far, the only thing I’ve posted is here. This was just a simple beat (to be fair, most of mine are!) and the main thing is the textures in the background are using the random slice start point to make textures, with a bit of Degrade on there. Nothing special, but a start at least, and picking up tips from other forum users too!
I have the TV, but haven’t had time to use it. Anyone using single cycle waveforms, and care to chime in on how well this machine handles them? Because, at least in theory, it really opens up the options for using it as a pseudo synth…
@Snipecatcher, awesome! Could you share more details about your workflow with stems and subtracks? E.g. Do you evolve over several patterns, or do you transition within the same pattern?
Yay, that’s a good start! I will also be aware about the tips and tricks that users post. Its really good to have such an active community of Elektron users to share ideas and help each other to have even more fun shaping sounds and making songs. Will let you know about my progress using the unit, so looking forward for receiving the TV tomorrow
Hard to keep track of w/ the many threads about the TV. Is there a comprehensive overview of how the samples are stored on the SD card?
Would be awesome if ~eventually there was a thread dedicated to multisampled instruments, but those seem to be having problems with the midi implementaiton? Those are a giant, long file, with a ~.stub file denoting location, pitch, vel?
A little of both, actually. At this residency I do, I perform between bands. Since you never know how long it’ll take one band to tear down and the other to set up, I have to build in some flexibility. I just peek over at the bands set up progress and that helps me decide on some arrangement choices.
Enjoy! Keep us posted
I haven’t read this method (correct me if I’m wrong) , but I’m assuming it’s what I imagined , using the sample on every slot with different start and end points.
This I was going to do , before I realised everytime you add the sample you have to browse to it from the start of your folders.
That’s a massive pita , unless I’m missing a copy asmple function for sub tracks or duplicate them ?
Is there a quick way t do this ?
