Do you also hear these little distortions during preview while this list is still processing in the background?
After about a day with the Tonverk I think I’m starting to find my way around. I’ve been playing with Sforzando SFZ files and Tonverk’s own ELMULTI file, learning things for myself even though I know there are other threads on this. The conclusion I’ve come to, after trying various things, is that I can just use ELMULTI files directly, editing them by hand.
Looping of multisamples is a problem that I have to spend more time on. I’ve found that the Tonverk does handle the loop points embedded in WAV files, and there’s no point in specifying loop points in ELMULTI files - just " loop-mode = ‘Forward’ " etc. does the job. Loading of some auto-converted SFZ and ELMULTI files was failing, and incorrect loop points appear (so far) to be the point - so I’m just going to leave them out of any ELMULTI files I work on.
Beyond that, actually getting multisample loops to sound good is my problem, and I’m trying to find the right tool for the job. Audacity isn’t it: I can create and test loop points in there, but they aren’t saved when exporting audio to WAV.
Autosampling is fine for what it is in 1.1.0, sampling a couple of patches from my old Novation Xio keyboard. I haven’t noticed any issues with the timing of the resulting samples but haven’t listened that closely. I’m organising all my multisamples in to folders and fixing their names manually by editing the ELMUTI files. It’s annoying to have my User multisamples always at the bottom of the list, so a lot of scrolling unless there is a trick there.
you most likely know this but holding func and scrolling makes things a bit faster.
Quick check: is there no way to disable usb audio in?
Would like to route audio to the jack ins, have usb connected for midi/data, but it seems i can’t turn usb audio input off?
This is very useful info!!
Hi i ve round that via USB the midi clock Is right, but via midi Is instable.
I also found that cond prob 1:5 dont play only the First trigger as aspected but play the second One. The others works well ( i.e 1:4 etc)
Does the midi clock instability happen when tonverk is slave only, or also when it is master?
Hi everyone, first day Tonverk buyer (sold back after 2 weeks because of… we all know)
I nevertheless been pretty amazed and inspired by the potential of the machine.
Since the 2 hotfixes and the grainer machine is the TV in v1.1.0 now more stable with midi syncing and audio latency? I’ve read someone on the forum making audio latency test and still encounter issues with the latest FW. And I’m refusing to re buying it if I can’t sync it with my Digitone II
I could give it another shot, now that I have in mind the the TV will never be that fast to tweaks parameters than my Digitone II and that the machine is deeply different in the core (Linux OS code VS embedded and optimized code)
Thanks for all
I notice, from my own experiences and also from reading here, that there’s some desire to use the Tonverk in a more “conventional” way. FM, Wavetables, using samples from old libraries etc.
I totally get it: I don’t want glitchy avant-garde EDM styles all the time: I also want to use my Tonverk as a conventional drum machine / groove box too. It needs to work alongside other instruments, and I think it can. One of my first Multisample creations uses samples I downloaded at least 15 years ago of a “pine piano”, a cheap piano unlike e.g. a Steinway. I have Steinway samples too, and I’m looking to import Mellotron samples too. Try some “normal” stuff … then wreck it. ![]()
General question for everyone:
When you plug your Tonverk in (or in my case, flip the switch on my power strip), do you have to wait roughly 2-3 seconds before powering the TV on?
I tend to move fast and flick the power strip-switch then the TV power within one second, but nothing happens…
I have to wait 2-3 seconds then try again and it boots up.
Just me?
Not a big deal at all if it’s expected behaviour. Just want to be sure I’m not facing a bigger problem down the road.
What’s the current situation around the usb c input and smartphones. I tried 3 different android devices with the included usb c cable on both usb inputs and couldn’t get it to work? What am I doing wrong?
I’m not sure I understand. I just want to do the same thing: https://youtu.be/lDj2UVFMG5g?si=aE64U6SGRW73mvHq
You having audio problems or midi problems? Or both
You just can’t use (usb) midi controllers at the moment
It looks like audio out over USB-C isn’t that straightforward on Android. If I connect a DAC to my (Google Pixel) phone it automatically switches the audio output to the DAC, but when connecting the Tonverk it still plays the audio over the phone speakers, and I cannot find any way of manually “rerouting” the audio. Not sure if this counts as a Tonverk problem or an Android problem tbh.
Same with mine, have to wait a couple of secs after plugging the power adapter
Just a quick one to hear what fellow TV users think about p-locks.
I had a very brief contact with the machine so far, and I didn’t delved properly into every minutia, but I have a feeling that there’s something wrong with p-locks, like not behaving as you might expect, especially when using conditionals and when you remove them.
I’m talking especially fx locks on busses and supertracks
I didn’t had time for a proper “debug” session to corner the wrong stuff, but I’d like to know what others are experiencing, as it might easily be user error from my side eventually.
Did anyone figure out how to make the tonverk lights purple like in the leaked photos ?
You’ve got to sample prince’s purple rain and that will unlock this special mode. Highly recommend.
Which are the differences you have been noticing?
One that comes to mind is that p’locked values on busses and sends don’t flip back to their default values on the next step and I guess that’s intended so you can create performance FX patterns etc.
