Tonverk: User Thread

ive only ever used the tune up/down to change the pitch, not transpose.
plus it its only on 1 subtrack at a time … not the 8 subtracks.

if you want ‘proper’ accurate pitches, you could pre-pitch them and layer them up on velocity layers, but that is also 1 track at a time to alter them , and i dont think you can turn amp-volume modulation off , so theyd go quiet at low pitches. (i’d need to check’ .

but basically … i dont think transpose works on subtracks.

to alter it on a step basis, id just use the tune parameter.

isnt perform mode the method for tweaking and returning to normal on tonverk ?.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will read that section of the manual again, and try it.

But I’m still used to the old way, with FUN Memorise/Recall, being saved automatically, when you open a Performance.

i may be wrong… i havent used perform/ recall / memorise much as i just assumed they were buggy as hell … basic sequence data is vanishing, i didnt want to risk it .

tonverk has more buttons and functions than other devices, i dont have any issue if they update some of the workflow and it improves it … if they stick to digitakt / rytm / analog 4 workflow , how will anything ever develop ?
i appreciate if someone is using a few of the boxes within a performance, then it’ll get a bit more confusing … but if the workflow cant develop we’re just going to be stuck with decade old workflows .

I agree with your idea about not being stuck in the past.
But some things work well, and should be preserved.
Especially when you have developed muscle memory to do certain things.
My particular request, would not impede new workflows, and is simply a quality of life thing.

Thanks. So I wonder what that “transpose SUBT” window that appears is for; it looks like they meant to add this functionality but didn’t (yet?).

Also weird that you can’t change the pitch via trig for sub-tracks, only tune.

That’s a fantastic idea I would have never thought of. Thanks a lot!

yeah esp now with fill latch mode!! awesome

Instruments are a multi sample or sub track config, these export just the samples used with their start end points looping information (if you export an instrument, the samples it references are gathered (copied) and placed in the same folder as the config file).

Presets are all the setting on a track, references to samples (or instruments) used are absolute paths to the files on the SD card, so moving samples can break presets.

While waiting for a Project to load, tell a joke/story, introduce yourself, and plug your website or merch.
It’s an oppertunity to work the crowd, and let them get to know you :slightly_smiling_face:

I have the latest update V14. Undo/Redo does not seem to work.
It is a feature we have all wanted since the beginning of Elektron boxes.
Hope it gets implemented in a good way (works on any action) soon.

Yep 5x12 semitones. But it doesn’t work above 5 octaves, on notes C#10 - G10 it is chromatic.

Yes, weird because of +/- 2 octaves vs +/- 5 octaves for other chromatic machines…

Btw above 2 octaves Grainer was chromatic even with KT -60. This have been fixed.

Is it possible, for example on Trig 1 of a 64-step pattern, to have Trig 1 normally routed to Bus 1 (or something like that), and then have that same Trig go to a different Bus when I press Fill? I get the feeling this isn’t possible. Is it maybe possible on trig 2 with an hardcore micro timing.

Yeah not possible on one trig. But if you have Fill/Not fill assigned to adjacent trigs where one is microtimed directly adjacent to the other, you can plock their bus sends for a nearly identical result.

But the idea of fill just modding a whole track’s bus destination is a great one

I do this all the time with lock trigs. You can also control track routing over MIDI.

Oh no! I gave misinformation!
I’m sorry @blix10 I didn’t thoroughly test before answering you.

Still tho for the grainer stack idea (which btw I’ve been having a lot of fun with, thank you) it works around middle c.

As always thanks Sez, glad you guys are on it.

I might come across a bit dim here, but why would u want to do this using plocks and trigs? Why not just clone pattern, make new routing there and then use direct jump to switch between both?

Yeah, I thought about that too, but as long as there’s no kit, I’d rather work as much as possible around a single pattern. So I’m really trying to be able to completely change the sound without having to change the pattern.

Fair enough. I’m new to elektron and have never used kits before. In a way I’m glad I haven’t, cause I don’t know what I’m missing :grimacing:

It’s simply a matter of being able to recall the kit and, above all, make a change to the mix that would apply to all patterns using that kit, rather than having to go into each pattern individually to make the change.
