Split Audio Tracks/Channels/Parallel Compression & FX Dry/Wet Mixing Workaround
- Set up a SEND channel to have a compressor for example (if you would like a dry signal / more or less unprocessed copy of an audio track’s channel)
- Send audio track to SEND channel that’s been set up in the step mentioned above
- Route the output of this audio track to a dedicated BUS
- Have the BUS channel process the audio arbitrarily (e.g. add a degrader FX)
This allows for parallel compression or for dry/wet signal mixing on effects that do not have a dedicated dry/wet mix control, such as the degrader. Mixing the signals can be done using the output volume on the BUS and SEND channels respectively, and/or using the SEND amount on the audio track.
Sidechain Bus Signals Using Bus Filters / EQs
Instead of using traditional side-chaining on buses using a compressor or by modulating the bus’ amp (shape engine), the low shelf gain can be parameter locked or modulated by an LFO using a single trigger type. This is useful for ducking bass lines for the low frequencies of the kick and glues sounds together in a way that might sound preferable/more coherent than ducking entire signals in some cases.
No page loop Quick workaround i found is copy the pattern to a blank pattern , make the track i want to edit only one bar ( or as you wish ) then when my grid edit is fine hold PAGE+REC to make a copy page then go back to the 16 bar pattern in grid mode, select the page where you want to copy the edit and press PAGE+PLAY to paste .better than nothing and unusable with subtracks ( you will a have to repeat the process 8 Times ).
the no choke froup on subtracks annoyed me this weekend so i ended with a simple workaround , only use open hi hats, plock decay for the closed hihats, works like a charm
Thanks! Why is it 120 divided down? Where did 120 come from?
sample start ( and loop start / loop end ) and End goes from 0.00 to 120 so that’s it !
i created a web tool because i needed to have drumkits with roundrobins per velocity layer, and afaik, no tool does that yet (otherwise i wouldn’t have spent many hours on this
)
check out the thread here: :eldrum builder: Tonverk drumkit builder that supports BOTH Velocity Layers AND Round Robin!
To expand on @Holografik 's answer:
A mathematical aside
Elektron probably chose 120 because it has lots of divisors, so you can evenly slice the buffer in lots of ways. Most Elektron things seem to have 128 values, but 128, as a power of 2, only has divisors that are other powers of 2. 120 has lots of divisors, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 20, 24, 30, 40, 60, and 120 from a quick search. Note 16 is not in there! But it’s easy to access the .5s so not a problem.
Legend!
Great question, as Jeanne said it should be if the reverb isn’t too complex with early reflections and stuff. But with another fx like distortion it will NOT be the same
use this, create hundreds of singlecycles, enjoy your non-aliased wavetavle based Tonverk synth

Autosample your plugin patches with rather short note length at high octaves, then pitch them down by a lot to have normal notes again - saves you time and precious RAM and adds a nice sort of retro feel sonically.
What are the thing’s you’re using the buses for? I think I need some more time to find a good approach for me. I’m thinking about using one bus for drums, one for melodies/ integrating a mastering chain into Tonverk to be able to record a whole mastered performance with the Internal recorder (if that’s even possible). Another idea could be using the sends for punch in like effects. But those are just ideas at the current state.
How are you guys using the buses and sends
@wPEPEq
I was messing around with just my TV and my Zoia recently. I turned all of the chorus controls down on Send 1 (although I realize now I could have just turned the FX slot to empty), and then send any track i wanted to to that send. On that send track, I set the output to CD. Plugged those outputs into the Zoia, then back into the inputs. Bam, external send effect.
Trying to understand how can I affect all tracks @ once with Prob just like in the old CTRL All which I understand missing from Tonwerk?
(I would suggest the Tonverk User Thread is the best place for questions, as opposed to sharing your discoveries)
Learned just now that the Memory indicator on the File menu is effectively a progress bar for your project (e.g. after bootup, or loading the project), especially if you’re a weirdo like me who remembers roughly how much RAM the project is using. In other words, you can watch it increasing as all the project’s samples are parsed.
This tip doesn’t really have any utility…
I don’t think you can unless you use some midi controller to Map the 8 tracks, i don’t think elektron can ignore the elephant in the room that Tonverk doesn’t have any performance mode of some sort for too long.
