Wonderful, thank you! I’m thinking I can use the multi sampler config to output “slice chains” in a similar way to how I have for the XY; hopefully my unit will arrive tomorrow, so I’ll have some hands on to stop asking questions while I figure stuff out ![]()
What are the requirements for usb sampling?
Am I able to sample from an analog heat or tascam modem 16 via usb?
Just a USB-C cable, the Tonverk is recognized right away (at least on macOS), you just have to select it and all the sound goes into the Tonverk and can come out for recording via your DAW.
I actually don’t use a daw so I guess to be more specific will other elektron devices be able to be used via the usb cable.
Hoping to be able to sample from my analog heat via usb to free up the inputs for other specific devices
No Elektron device has the ability to act as a (class-compliant) USB host so you cannot get them to talk to each other via USB.
Hi @_Niko Can you speak a bit about the difference in converters between the DT2 and Tonverk? Is it a new AD converter? Does it still have the characteristic bump in the highs that the DT had?
Also — is there a technical limitation to the 6.06:06 minute maximum capture time (RAM performance or buffer or something) that would close off the possibility of an increase of that maximum in the future? It would be great to be able to capture a 10-15 minute eurorack performance.
The Multiplayer can utilize crossfade loops and it’s used in some of the factory sounds, like ‘Complex Digital’. If you look in the .elmulti file you can see how they do it. The only problem is, the factory Multiplayer sounds store each sample as a separate file, and the .elmulti file defines the loop start/end/fade-length for each .wav file. Whereas when you use the on-board Multiplayer recorder, it just captures one long sample chain in a single .wav, and the .elmulti file it generates is much simpler.
maybe u could adapt an open source soundfont editor like polyphone to generate .elmulti files. Although I know elektron have their own…
Can an external controller, such as a mod wheel or fader, be used to adjust multiple machine/effect parameters at the same time? If so, are there any technical limitations to be mindful of?
I am having dreams of a macro controller that can radically alter multiple sounds and effects at once, in high definition…
Can you use the autosampler to sample Tonverk itself? Can you use multiple tracks at once to build up a complex sound to multisample?
I see you can select Mix or a Bus for the audio source, but I don’t know if it will send midi to itself and if you can use multiple tracks with the same midi channel (midi settings menu in the manual doesn’t seem to show if you can set channels for each track).
You can use midi-loop(via cable) I think.
It sounds like layering tracks on the same midi channel to a single bus and using as audio source would work combined with midi loopback. Mine doesn’t arrive for days but seems a worthwhile experiment.
I was also just playing with using an elz_1 play as a track layer with a micromonsta2 in combi mode to make a tritimbral layered sound to prepare my mind and body for the multisampling experience. It becomes very hard to decide when the patch is ready when it has so many sound sources and each is a fully sound designed synth. First world problems.
Speaking of multisampling, since you can do multisampling of 128 notes with 128 levels of velocity, there is possibility going over 4GB, what happens then? You can’t load that multisampled instrument or what?
How can i record mono? i used a Six Trak witch just have a mono out.
in the I/O is no mono setting just like in+usb, in a+usb l……
it any time records the mono signal on left and records a silent on the right side. that mean also if you replay this samples you just hear it on the left side.
What did i wrong or is the firmware not ready for recording mono signals?
Also i dient want that autonaming, can i switch this of?
Is latency on the TV always going to be worse than previous platforms due to using Linux?
Not if the CPU speed compensates for the overhead.
There are some Linux versions like Elk specialized in audio/DSP that are designed with latency as primary constraint.
I don’t have any precise info on the TV in this regard, though.
I’m gonna go all hardcore and HAND CODE every patch hehehe!
If you send your input to a track, and then set that track as your sampling source, it should work just fine. As long as you center pan the correct input in the SRC settings of the MIX track
