Tonverk OS Upgrades & Updates

no issues when i tried it - maybe look through your settings (plus it worked before, there was only a bit of funkiness with some NRPN functionality iirc)

In what state is autosampling with din midi right now?
Is it stable?

Stable since the previous firmware release :+1:

Over USB-C too in my experience with latest firmware.

My experience of autosample from USB is fine with 1.10 firmware. I autosample osTIrus (emulation of virus TI plugin) in ableton live. Work fine👌

Just tried this. This isn’t what some of us are talking about.

We may have to just agree to disagree on this one

I’ve never had a digitakt, but for me it works, in a sense that I can stretch a sample preserving the tone, or I can keep its speed by altering the pitch; but if it’s a matter of workflow, that is another thing.
Of course I won’t expect the kind of stretch like the complex algo in live, which is based on resynthesis

Here’s what I’ve been using to pitch my drum and percussion loops to the right tempo.

I wouldn’t recommend this on melodic loops unless that’s the effect you’re going for

V1.1.0 I’ve tried to change the TV pattern via midi by sending bank and program change messages. This is not working, I tried sending from DAW and from a hardware sequencer. This also did not work in last firmware. Can someone else please check/confirm. Thanks

This is bad if true. TV is lacking very basic functionality which has been there always: Mutes (via midi) and Prog Change (working smoothly between different Elektron devices). All this makes it very difficult to integrate TV to our setups. Fixing these should be very high priority IMO.

For me, pattern mutes, page looping, sample zooming, chord mode from digitone 2 and sample/preset management are the update i want.

And more machines and fx (not necessarily slicing and pitching)

Works here. Have you set up the TV to accept programme changes?

SETTINGS > MIDI CONFIG > SYNC > PROG CH RECEIVE (tick)
and either one of these:
SETTINGS > MIDI CONFIG > CHANNELS > AUTO CHANNEL > XX (midi channel from sender)
SETTINGS > MIDI CONFIG > CHANNELS > PROG CHG IN CH > XX (midi channel from sender)

Yes I did that and it doesn’t work for me… thanks for suggesting.

I had interesting tempo sync results with an saw lfo on POS (set to 60.00).
However it doesn’t match perfectly a sequenced drum loop with subtracks.

Timestretching (Firmware >= 1.1.0)

guys why limiting yourself with denying useful features… cause DT has it blabla

Btw elektron wrote on their Website —-> „ In many ways, Tonverk could be your perfect Elektron workstation.……. „And all of this from one box“!!! You figure it out @mfk i Hope they will update timestretch/slice and more and if some guys dont need it cause DT has it, its ok but that doesnt matter for me, i want it right in the TV …it enhance my Workflow m2cents no offense, end.

I prefer to use SAW, allowing to use Multiply (plocks or live tweaking).

I also think this “DT has it” argument isn’t valid.
As I said above, TV slice machine is on my top wishlist, with quantized recording, longer than 16 beats max, a mode to sample subtracks…

Having Tonverk and Octatrack, I don’t need a Digitakt anymore. I have slices with OT, but I wouldn’t necessarily use it with Tonverk all the time.

More is more…

Verkstation

In many ways, Tonverk could be your perfect Elektron workstation. Multisample your favorite piece of gear, and take it in unimaginable directions. Build your drum kits, build your instruments, save your presets. Sequence your songs, route your sounds, and dive into plenty more features like arpeggiator, chord mode, song mode, pattern transitions, perform mode, and a selection of modulation sources that shine when connecting your external keyboard. And all of this from one box.

I’d also love to use TV sound design tools to make some variationa of drum samples, resample that and use slices to have quick access to these. And be able to use LFOs for slice select. I’d also love to record or transfer stems into one longer sample and then use slices to arrange or mess around. A strict grid like the old DT grid would be sufficient. Bonus if slices weren’t a machine but could be used within sub tracks or granular, just like it’s always there on OT. It would make a lot of sense on TV and add to it for sure.

Now it’s not the most important feature to me and TV is worth keeping for me without slices. And if Elektron for whatever reason do have to decide whether to bring us new things like granular or utility stuff like slices, I take the new shit any day. I still think it’s a bit silly to argue that it wouldn’t be nice or make sense to also have basic slices or timestretch.

And please don’t start listing convoluted workarounds or “just use a PC” as an answer.

I have the midi bank and program change working now, both with DAW and hardware sequencer. I rewired it all and double checked all the settings… so probably had not plugged the cable in fully, as that would explain why both not working before. Thanks

@Rest Perhaps I didn’t express myself as clearly as I wanted to:
The thing is, I’m happy with the status quo (minus the bugs) and excited about every new feature, regardless of whether these feature is already available on other devices or not. (In my opinion, slice mode is also overrated—you can adjust the start and end points yourself  )
This demanding dissatisfaction just irritates me. Tonverk is already great (minus the bugs). Just like the original Digitakt was great when it came out (minus the bugs) – and just kept getting better.
All these demands kind of take away from the joy of the current state of affairs, don’t they?
