Tonverk OS Upgrades & Updates

can confirm - midi is now stable on din and finally I can have some autosample fun

@Ciso, you are right. I didn’t want to sound too negative. Nevertheless, I think it would be good to know if and how these issues will be resolved at some point. I received a response to a support request saying that there is no guarantee that patterns can be copied from one project to another. I really don’t know how to use TV in conjunction with my other Elektron devices…

Has there been any update/acknowledgement on making the 'Undo, Redo ’ buttons functional?

11ms—we’re on the right track. To be fair, it’s not the best, but I could deal with it if I had to. Above all, it is important that it runs smoothly overall. Looks good!
The whole workflow feels a lot more efficient, which is great.
If necessary, latency can also be achieved with a MIDI clock shifter.

Thanks for the update!

Edit:
We see a latency of approximately 10 ms.
Digitakt 2 as master → DIN Midi Tonverk as slave.
Both devices play the same sound at 130 bpm. DT above, TV below.
Analog recording.

Do you mean the TV should provide a setting to delay commencement of sampling for 11ms?

(Or trim silence from the start and end of a sample automatically might work better)

Overall clock seems tighter.

Just don’t throw too much CC data down to it, that still causes issues.

Quick test - put the TV downstream from an OT and move a CC dial randomly, it’ll shift the tempo 20+ bpm and put the machine out of sync instantly.

genuinely happy for everyone who is satisfied with their tonverk but it’s time for me to gently and politely step off the hype train

Hmmm. I need to test for myself but this still isn’t ideal

Can you pls elaborate on this? UI snappier/more responsive? Or something else

Damn. Multisampling via USB is the whole reason I bought this thing.

This is a disappointing update for me. I thought at the least the midi latency would be fixed but in fact it’s only over midi din and not yet over usb. It’s taken a month to get this far.

I don’t feel like there’s much point sampling anything further at this point, partly due to the latency over USB… I assume that’s the issue, I’m referring to the fact that everything I sample has some notes that do not play on time. I can get away with it on pads but on plucks/arps, they’re generally unplayable in many note ranges.

And of course, I can’t really multi-sample pads because there are no loop points and I can’t name them either. I have a long list of autogenerated names and what they are actually samples of… I don’t want this list to get any longer, I need to be able to name my multis.

I’m pleased Elektron are making progress and I’m sure in time we’ll get there, but Tonverk is going back on the shelf for me for a while as, if this patch is anything to go by, we’re going to be in for a long haul before even basic features are working.

They gave Tonverk users the bare-minimum – I think that’s called “bread crumbing”

Glad I returned mine, to think I actually considered buying again if they would’ve used this update to make up for the abysmal launch… but nope.

I hope I’m wrong, but for me this continues to cement (in my mind) #thepartyisover

It’s a shame. I really don’t want to see Elektron turn into Polyend.

Yeah… truly unfortunate…

One thing I am worrying about is if all the months of bug fixing they will likely spend on this means less time they will put into developing useful features for it.

While I also think Tonverk should have been released with a much more mature firmware I also find we should try to be factual correct when posting criticism: Tonverk was launched September 11 so to state “it has been a few months” while it’s not even 2 months is a bit unfair.

Yea same. Really not pleased to have to wait longer for basic functionality.
