Tonverk is this screen defective?

When i powered it on it looked like a line of pixels is missing, but a few mins later they appeared, anybody else with this behaviour or should i send it for servicin since its 2days old

If it resolved itself I’d maybe give it another week or two to see if it happens again - depending on where you are you should be able to return it for a replacement if it’s defective, could be a fluke issue though.

If I had to guess what the issue might be - loose connection/bad solder joint on the cable the screen uses to attach itself to the board.

You should submit a support ticket at Elektron, it’s not inconceivable it could be related to timing of instructions and therefore firmware addressable but my take is that it’s more likely hardware and might be stable going forward, but if you report it now you are more likely to be covered with Elektron if you keep it and find it happens after your warranty… if you didn’t get a prompt reply from support I think I’d advocate swapping for peace of mind in terms of potential hassle

Returning it for an exchange would be wisest on balance as I’ve never noticed a similar report for any other screen on any device… but learning Electron’s take would be interesting

I’d return if it’s easy for you. I’m sure Elektron will repair it if it happens again but that involves a round trip to Sweden so could take a few weeks

I’m seeing bands of uneven brightness on my Tonverk screen. Just pronounced enough to be annoying. After a recent round trip to Sweden for my Octatrack to replace a faulty screen I’m wondering if Elektron need to do something to improve the quality of some of their components.

This is normal on all of these little oled screens.

It isn’t normal on high quality oled panels. And, in my view, we shouldn’t be seeing issues on costly equipment like our Elektron devices. I have five of their products and, so far, I have experienced problems on 40% of them.
