Tonverk: bug reports

I’m in the same place. This is definitely a “check out when firmware v1.1 launches” box for me. I am interested in the concept but it’s a brand new platform and I’m not up for introducing instability into what is (for me) a super-stable setup at the moment.

sorry to tell you you need a usb host to get audio to and from tonverk

a computer is one
the other devices are not

I manage to desynchronize a pattern from the metronome by changing the pattern length while playing. Not sure this is to be expected.

it does sound like its related to the sync and latencey issues already reported though

probably not great that the issue runs that deep, but good cause they are already on that issue

Changing the phase of an LFO is not heard until restarting the sequencer, is it expected ?

EDIT : I’m just being dumb, restarting the sequencer changes the phase as the LFO runs in the background when stopped.

Yeah, I’ve had to basically keep a laptop in the loop between my TV and modular rack just to act as a usb audio host. Elektron support mentioned that it could potentially be a future TV feature to act as a USB host itself, but made no promises. Maybe for a weekend project I’ll rig up a small raspberry pi in a little module with a few usb-c jacks to serve as the host in my setup without needing to pop open my laptop and ableton to act like a simple audio router.

if you do that, please share everything here, or start a business. and let me beta test  you would sell about 2000 here would be my guess

I suspect it could be possible to have a tiny teensy or stm32 “host in a wire” that runs in-line with the usb-c path without requiring an additional power cable, too, as TV happily pumps out power over usb. That might be a bit more than a weekend project, but would be an insta-buy for me as well. I’ll share more if I go down this path.

Got my Tonverk today, also having MIDI latency issues. I’m glad I’m not the only one

Analog Rytm MK2 as the master, connected to a Digitone 2 and then to the Tonverk.

Digitone works perfectly, Tonverk seems slightly lagging.

Hi there

My TV just stopped making any sounds, 1 hour after I opened the box.

Everything was ok, and suddenly the pattern I was working on in a new projet was destroyed, just erased itself. Then I rebooted it and no sound came out…

There’s no way to lock an LFO to the sequencer ?

Midi I/O with this thing is abysmal. Putting 4 trigs down 4 on the floor, midi out to my Minifreak. The notes have random delay always changing, sometimes 2/4 notes, 4/4, only 1. Every cycle is different. How the hell do you release something like this, incredibly frustrating.

Quick example

ouch. that sounds quite severe…

i’m sure they would have done such a basic test like this… and made the decision it was good enough to ship .

otherwise, if its never been tested … that would be embarrasing for a professional company / qa dept and beta testers.

so… in theory … theyll already know about how bad it is and ‘be on it’ .
i’d still report it via official methods.

it seems like in addition to avoiding mention of overbridge, they couldve flagged ’ Product ships in a beta state at launch ’

at least it’s doing more than digitakt 1 was capable of at launch… if you used midi in any way - it locked up.

Yeah I am opening a ticket right now, maybe my unit is affected more than usual

I take it back. Maybe it’s not a bug. The response from Elektron was that it’s a known issue, but then they told me something that got my brain rewired. It’s similar to the chord mode in the digitone2. I have to select the trigger, and then use the 12 note keyboard to select which of the notes I want to lengthen, and then it works just fine.

Not sure if intended behaviour, but the metronome doesn’t adjust/restart to be in time if the transition is set to direct start (and maybe the jump ones as well?) It’ll change tempo to match but be kinda off. Fairly minor issue as wouldn’t often have metronome on changing patterns but just noticed it. Love the transition options btw!

As a software developer, I’ll just take a guess. I think a mistake must have crept in at the last minute.

Also as a software developer of 35+ yrs making games , you lock down your code base , take very selective fixes , understand how it’ll impact other aspects of the code base and run thorough test plans .

Sure , things get through and get fixed quickly , but the basics are usually tight, especially on a hardware platform developed by the same team .

Let’s see how things get fixed,I’m sure all involved hate reading this stuff , I’d guess the street date was out of their control … I know I’ve worked on projects for years and felt devasted that small bugs have impacted peoples enjoyment once it hits millions of players on various hardware platforms … but some very very basic obvious things would be embarrassing, these are being found by tens / possibly low hundreds of users on a fixed single hardware platform , on a type of device they’ve developed for over decade …

I can relate  even with the age.

Shit happens.
