Tonverk: bug reports

Twice I have turned on the unit now to get total silence out of the main outputs and also the headphone outs.

Turning it off and on again solves it.

After searching this thread, looks like I’m not alone!

Ah yes sorry, not implemented yet. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Do you think it might be?

I’ve had that issue twice so far. Rare enough that it doesn’t bother me.

Have to be !
Midi implementation should be similar to Digis. I don’t know Elektron priorities.

Ah. I haven’t checked but I didn’t think digis emit ccs either.

Seem to have a reproducible bug when sampling using Start rather than Threshold.
DTII as MIDI master, DNII as the instrument to be recorded, TV the recorder, length set to 16/1, 32 seconds at 80bpm.

At the end of the 32 seconds the TV becomes unresponsive, stuck on the Recorder screen, with the tempo LED permanently on, and trig 13 illuminated in red. After 3-4 minutes, the TV returns to the track 8 FX screen and the Sample LED shows green.

When I click the Sample button, it shows the Sample setup screen, then Yes takes me to the recorded sample. Sometimes it’s truncated, sometimes not.

This has happened 4 or 5 times now.

I’m running firmware 1.2.1.

The MIDI connection from the DTII is via DIN.

Have sent a report to Elektron.

Edit: just tried a 16 second length recording, and that shows the same symptoms.

This correspond to 120 bpm…

It was definitely showing as 32 seconds, and the DTII was set to 80bpm.

TV was showing 80 with the lock symbol on the SRC page.

I guess for audio recording TV didn’t take external tempo in account and kept internal / default tempo (120 bpm). Buggy…

Hey folks!

Playing out a scenario: Synth chord on track 1 routed to bus 1. Bus 1 amp env all the way to the right, with a short snappy envelope shape. Enter a sequence, you’d expect to hear a gated rhythm. Right?

Well sometimes this works, other times it does not. Sometimes I hear virtually nothing. Sometimes I hear a “leak” muffled audio. When it’s not working, the sequence never opens the gate. Why it doesn’t is unknown to me, I cannot find a pattern.

I’ve tried this on both asdr and asd env types, reduced trigger length (and increased) enabled/disabled env reset. Copied a functioning bus track plus sequence to one that’s not working - and it still doesn’t work!

On latest firmware, Bus 1 and 4 seem to always work, but bus 2 and 3 never work?

What could I be doing wrong? Has anyone else experienced this? Could this be a hardware issue?

Os: 1.2.1 (latest as of today)

Welcome!

You’re talking about entering a sequence on the Bus track (T9), not only your source track (T1), right?
Make sure you are really on the bus track by using TRK + BUS trig.
Sometimes, once I’ve routed Track 1 to Bus 1, I expect to be on the Bus 1 track when I am, in fact, still on Track 1.

yep, definitely entering the sequence on track 9

When the Tonverk is synced (MIDI or USB, the issue is the same in both cases) and I try to record 1 bar (1/1) from IN + USB SRC, the unit freezes. It starts sampling normally, but just before reaching the end of the bar, it freezes completely.

Is this a known bug?
I’ve already reported it to Support. Thanks!

Sounds similar to what I mentioned above. Also reported to Elektron.

I reported this same issue a while ago. It seems to have been fixed, or at least improved, in the latest version. Trying it out here with a new project, i get no dropped triggers on the bus gate trigs (Bus2) anymore - but it might only appear with specific settings now. Elektron mentioned that it was related to hanging notes under certain settings. Maybe try reducing your note LEN on the bus track? And do you have retrig enabled on the bus track?

This bug still isn’t resolved in 1.21

Does anyone have a (simple) workaround? I’ve set my Tonverk as the master to avoid the “freezing when sampling” issue, but now I can’t sync my pattern changes… damn!

Thanks! Agree yes it does seem specific to settings, not been able to narrow it down though.

I’m back on the issued power supply atm with external gear hooked into the ins and routed, and now I see all bus tracks are working… didn’t change any settings outside that. There was a reboot of course, but prior reboots didn’t fix before.

fwiw it was all working on 1.2.0 under this exact setting last week, then I went mobile with a non std charger (40w) and couldn’t get bus 2/4 to work. I’m pretty sure a different combo of buses were not/working last time…

I Updated to the newest OS today in hopes it would reduce the amount of bugs I was experiencing . I am sad to say that in 4 hours of making music tonight I TWICE got the kind screen of death (OOPS–Something Went Wrong, Please turn off/on Device")

I tried to turn the machine back on but this time it went straight to the OOPS screen for a third time and this time…the trigger buttons starting doing a knight rider light display in green!!

So i opened up the SD CARD on my computer…something strange i noticed…there is a LOG file in for my current project that is 1.3GB in size!!! with the name
000062.log.
no project I have ever made before has such a giant log file.

deleting it allowed me to restart the tonverk.

thanks

I’m replying to myself: for now, the easiest way to change patterns like I used to do with DT2 / DN2 is to do it the usual way, but make sure to hit Stop on the last beat / Play on the first beat so everything switches on time. It’s not the best trick ever, but I don’t have a better solution for now haha
