Shit, I erased by mistake what I wrote, but it was something like AR or Start a new Modular that could help teach my students and make more things (but more on music making instead of audio design)
I don´t know how flexible is the machine, but I have an OT and MDUW+
My interest to know everything. My need to collect things to show to my students.
And the fact that I live in a Third Word Class country where people don’t get access to this things so I try to push people into this things.
Haha I even got a program I’m working in that will be presented to the local education authorities, but I’m pretty sure they will reject it, I know my politics.
So yep, basically that. Actually, That’s why I kinda lost the synth, I lend it so my friend could learn, hands on.
Also, I rely on details.
“God is in the details”, so if a 10 bucks machine makes something I need, let’s use it.
And since there are no place here to “check things out” or that “oooh I went to a local store a tried this synth is great”, nah. So, all of the things I’ve bought were bought as blindfolded, also with the elektron. (I’ve sold a lot of shit)
Not necessarily , and honestly that’s what I used to think.
But when I started to teach I realised that people get more eager over the idea of sound in context of music making than the idea of making bleeps and blops. They investigate further more with sounds when they are apparently led to something ( a road with a goal), in this case a music piece, (maybe is the idea of the loop that mesmerises them).
And only the lovers stay with the analysis and study of the elements that are compressed in a music piece, so yep, few of them get their hands into “sound design”.
And I can’t teach what I don’t know so I won’t teach Modular.
But, yes, Mr. Peter, I guess a Modular System will be more educational for me, and at the end I might need a more “computer” based sequencer to link with the modular so I can experiment on that, so at the end will be getting the AR later.
If you want to teach synthesis, get a true understanding of signal paths & understand how each component contributes to the sound then there’s no better way than modular!
