Tips on making deep techy house like chris stussy, djoko, harrison bdp etc?

Please share with us when you finish something in this style. I’m personally a big fan of the sound. I’ve been releasing a bunch of stuff that’s kind of in the same ballpark since I first participated on this thread. I think op even deleted their account, and they never shared what they came up with :disappointed:

Here’s a recent one of mine, let me know your thoughts:

Nice track, I’m trying to make music in that same style, I definetly will listen to more of your songs, what instrument did you use to make the bass? sounds really nice

Thanks. The bass sound I ended up using came out of a reason synth called “monotone”.

I really like how much detail is in this track. A lot of things coming in and out, but it doesn’t get too busy like the earlier SoundCloud track you posted before. Sounds like you refined everything and changed your process possibly.
What is your process for getting all the details and twists in the arrrangment? I was thinking maybe you made one large super loop and then muted in and out, but it sounds more thought out than that.

Hey that’s a great question. I can’t remember the process around the time of that one from 2002 in relation to the ones before that from 2020/2021

I think the process is probably the same. Letting the song tell its own story by listening and feeling. With time one gets better and better at doing just that.

I had been focusing on mixing and mastering for a few years before and around the time I finished “Diamanten” and was getting better at it on each song and that also helped because a lot of arrangement and mixing go hand in hand.

I was also likely experimenting with doing different sections that were distinct somewhat from one another… which is most evident I was trying to do in songs like “Finalmente”

Then it was a matter of listening to what the song wanted to tell, trying to not tell the story too quickly or too slowly, but at the right pace. :+1:

I’m still going strong with the same style. Got a bunch of stuff on the pipeline, but haven’t had time to release it. Last release under this project was over a year ago now :scream:

Thats great, love the mix of Finalmente. Really nice panning to keep everything in its own space. The pad panned more to one side is a move I love to make as well. I make a similar style, but I would say a little more minimal and raw. It’s nice to see other folks in this grey between deep house and techno.

I think the challenge of this genre is adding new sounds or hooks to a strong groove without making the track sound busy.
