Tiny screens,Overbridge

Hi, my tired old eyes need a bigger screen (AK) , could a quick Overbridge implementation be just a projection of the tiny screen on to the computer monitor?

However, the resolution is so low on the A4/AK that on a larger screen it may not look all that useable translated to whatever screen size you may have.

Its a puny little thing eh?..
It really bugs my eyes.
I was thinking of getting a small camera to focus on the puny thing, and placing the image onto a computer screen or IPad - sort of like a small security monitor?

I still dont get the “idea” or “business plan” behind scrimping on the screen size.
Maybe its all in the grand plan for Electron binocular helmets?

…hoping for overbridge to work stand alone too - without necessarily needing to have VST or Logic running.

remember back in the day when those monchrome nintendo gameboys were the bob-omb? among the many nifty 3rd party accessories was an attachable magnifying glass. somebody should consider making something like that for the elektrons.

Great idea! I love the screen on my MonoMachine and I think that screen, at least for the Analog Keys version of the A4 would have been more appropriate.

The screens of the AK are only a few dollars wholesale in large quantity. But here you can see an assortment from the people who brought you the xoxbox.

There is a screen that is 5 inches with backlight for $29.

A clever tech could replace the screen but would mess up your resale value/warranty.

It’s a real shame to see the small screen being the standard for the Analog series. Because of the heavy use of multifunction knobs in Elektron’s user experience paradigm, it’s particularly important that it’s evident what mode the system is in, what the knobs will do, and their current value.

For many people the small screens will be fine - if you have a certain quality of eyesight and/or hunch over the machine at a particular distance. But good design shouldn’t depend on such a narrow band of use and users.

A step back in usability to shave some manufacturing costs?

that’s what got me about the screen, more than the size it really helps to have it at an angle at a proper height. i wish more stuff had adjustable tilt screens.

that said, after using it for a while most of the functions you can remember without looking at too much, i think. what still gets me in terms of slowing down to peer at the screen is the mod destination list(s). hopefully they change it more like patch selection where you can use the trig buttons to precisely select what you want.

maybe they could display some stuff, like locking parameter values larger “picture in picture” style? especially if you’re doing super slow turning to dial in a specific value, you don’t need to see the rest. similar to how on some hardware, it has a separate larger LCD just for numbers that i find can be pretty useful.

although i’m guessing there’ll be an iOS app with parameter mirroring at some point?

You should be able to mirror the values to another screen, even if it’s only Midi using a Midi monitor. If you know how to code.

My solution was use a flat magnifying (reading) glass. This will probably have to be adjusted to height.

Haykken made a MFL and Max Patch which you can buy which has everything to look at
