While everybody is talking about focus and reducing gear: I think THIS is the year to buy the missing pieces in your rig!
Some thoughts - only on hardware
Covid won’t make it easier to get your item of choice! Even not in a past pandemic scenario.
(Mutable Instruments Plaits 13-17 weeks delivery??? MAAANY other Modules as well, Behringer RD9?, Erica Perkons?)
Vintage gear is getting more and more expensive (MD / MnM?).
I would not expect a decrease in prices. Never - even for gear that is still produced.
Owning is better than needing. If you don’t need it - sell it!
I’m weighing a few big purchases (have been for a few years actually, let’s just say I have a lot of cash saved up) but I’m not pulling the trigger on anything until after my Osmose comes in. If I find that I can’t live without MPE once I have it, I may change my mind on what I’m thinking about.
I went way overboard with synths/drum machines/samplers last year. Getting more of those would be a mistake. I could still do with a mixer, cables, stands or shelves, and perhaps a couple of fx.
Theoretically ima side with this crew - if only that I don’t have any money for gear at the moment
I díd put aside enough money for a pair of second hand Genelec 8040s (if they go cheap enough), but I’m hanging on to that money until this spring’s annual income tax date. If there’s no surprises there - I’m getting próper monitors finally!
I bought matriarch, made me happy
I bought dfam and subharmonicon, feels great but didn’t get real music out of it yet
A4 with matriarch is amazing
But I don’t like setting up templates, menus and rotary pods. , elektron always gave me so much, especially the a4 helped me to understand.
