I’ve changed this, but find it still a bit clickbaity ![]()
Let me know if you got better suggestion.
standalone Plaid beaut.
Incredible Brothomstates anthem, still never heard this one on a large pa. Think it would be a treat when the beat drops.
Are you guys serious??? Wow…
Delete the whole topic if it offends You so much, i don’t care tue slightest. But just to be clear, the original title was in Warp’s own words, not mine
The title of the mail was “This is not the end”
So was the bottom of the mail.
And the bottom of the page it is leading to.
I think the end it was referring to was simply the end of the year, in a formula that is falsely alarming.
So choosing to keep only the first words was making the title of the thread more of a clickbait than the accurate depiction of reality.
Warp are always great at PR. They aren’t going anywhere
While on Warp love, this TNGHT EP might be the greatest. Still sounds huge / incredible. Loved seeing them play it out in a warehouse too when it came out.
this actually got cancelled and warp has gone completely silent, pretending like nothing happened lol
Yeah, had tickets. Really gutted. Was an amazing line up
AI claims it was cancelled ‘likely due to low ticket sales’ … a few things on reddit also show its canceled / people getting refunds.
i wouldve gone mostly for plaid, claro intelecto, cid rim & floating points but i didnt buy tickets.
the only gig i have this year is Leftfield all day thing.
I’d have love to have seen Oneohtrix.
Despite all the junk that Warp has put out on the market in recent years, it remains a historic label with dozens of techno super classics, which makes it very difficult to just disappear from the scene. What could perhaps happen is that the label changes ownership, but for electronic music lovers, this could also be good news
So, err, what’s actually going on with Warp then? Like others above I lost interest a long time ago when they started to dilute their brand and play to current trends I had zero interest in (Maxïmo Park anyone?)
Seeing this screencap of their early 00s site in the second Ask Autchre Anything really gave me a rush of nostalgia though. Used to love browsing it when I was supposed to be on the computer doing ‘homework’. Flash sites were such a buzz:
I suspect had they stuck with only idm / glitch etc they’d have closed down many years ago , it was wise to branch out into other genres even if it’s stuff I’m not interested in … they’ve made some interesting films too .
I’m stuck in 1990’s / 2000 , b12, plaid , lfo, black dog , plaid , early autechre , electro etc … I have old warp T-shirts / blech T-shirts … made when T-shirts actually lasted ( instead of the horrible cheap thin tees with cheap printing on ) … their modern output inf for me … no interest in oneohtrixwhatever or most of that lineup .
If they relied on people like me , the early / oldies … I doubt they’d make much ££££ except on a few reissues .
I seem to follow CPU records more these days.
i had friends from all over coming to london for that event. we were all refunded and now diverted to mira in barcelona instead. opn and floating points are still playing, plus you have flylo blawan and the likes too. and less grim weather
the only act i’ll probably miss from the warp thing would be clark…
I still have Warp in my
from back in the day.
I grew up with that sound.
all this talk like SAW3 and the next BOC lp aren’t just around the corner…
He has a new album coming and I’m sure plenty of additional tour dates will accompany it…
…all great things come to an end…
…even in case of one of those truu progressive independant cult record labels…
…and since there is no record business anymore, even “warp records” is nothing but a reminiscence of a time that has simply vanished in the only constant thing there is…change.
yeah looks like shows next month will be the tour for new album
