CPU is very easily overloaded
I use mine only for single patches
Know that unison eats up a lot of CPU as effects do…
I’ve just plugged in my new TI2 today for the first time, woop!
congrats! It is a truly wonderful synth in spite of the limits and fun to play! Not much today that does a better job. Well perhaps the new Waldorf Quantum MK2 will give it a run for the money but that is an expensive synth. I like using it with my Hapax sequencer and playing multi timbral arp modes.
Thanks!
I’m having a lot of fun with it, just got the hang of USB midi. If audio over USB worked with m1 that would be a treat for me, not 100% necessary but would be great if anyone has worked out how to make it work!
This video’s translations are amazing.
I was trying to find examples of people using the atomizer…
Does anyone else have a loose power supply on their Virus? With my B, C, TI and TI2 I have had very loose and wobbly power supplies that disconnect at the first sign of movement. I find it incredibly frustrating and I need to get this sorted before I lose my mind.
FYI I have an official Access power supply, the big power brick.
The Virus TI Polar was and is the best synth on market and I wonder that Access and its mastermind Mr. Kemper developed it in 2005. Fantastic.
aside from the lack of software support and old user interface, I would tend to agree. Nothing can touch it for multi-timbral polyphonic VA synths. I do wish it had the cool sequencer from Elektron and newer screen than it would be amazing. I dream of a future Virus that has these updates like a complex sequencer, color OLED screen, and software support for new Mac OS.
Yes I agree, and Access has updated the virus over years up to OS 5.1.70.
Mr. Kemper than changed his genius to the Amplifier business I thing with a wider bigger user base worldwide.
Therefore I think that we will not get a new Virus 2 with a Elektron style sequencer.
well I have good result using Hapax for sequencer and the arp on the Virus is super amazing! With Rytm MK2 and Virus TI2 that is powerful combo.
Yes. Noticed this the other day on my TI1 Desktop. Not sure what to do about it, other than place it somewhere where it won’t be moved.
I think the virus is that awesome, because he did focus onto the synth and not waste his and the devices resources for stuff, dedicated devices do way better. But I don’t see any reason, why every device needs to be half a groove box anyways.
definitely is a legendary synth
Do you think it’s just poor design and a power supply with a wider barrel would do the trick? Sometimes just pressing the buttons causes the power supply to cut out.
Can you wrap the barrel of the power supply with electrical tape to give it more girth?
Don’t know if that’s a good idea, as the outer shell of the barrel is used for ground.
Great idea! But…
That’s what I was thinking, any electrical engineers care to chime in?
I’ve had this wobbly/unstable Virus power jack input issue with every Virus I’ve had and it makes me want to rage when I’m swapping cables around and I see the Virus constantly turning off and on.
I’m not an electrical engineer, or encouraging anyone to modify their psu’s…
But for the sake of sharing observation, my TI polar uses an IEC figure 8 with no grounding prong.
I’m not an EE, but absolutely do not wrap the barrel in tape. Maybe consider replacing the barrel with a slightly larger barrel.
37 & 61-key Viruses both have this style of power.
Someone on the Virus forums said they fixed an issue that sounds like this one by downgrading to TIOS v3.3.5.02.
Just got this combo and can concur. How do you sample your Virus stuff? I’m planning to sample using Ableton and copy to the CF.
