That running the mixer in the red was the magic sauce and that digital wouldn’t get it for a few decades.
I thought that synthesizers were just cheap devices to poorly replicate sounds of acoustic instruments.

That kind of was part of the original point, I remember reading the Juno 106 manual or a separate handout explaining the presets and I was surprised actually how much replication of other instruments was part of the goal.
