Yes, I would love perform kits on Syntakt! I spend far too much time copying and pasting track sounds to copy over minor tweaks across several patterns. It would save so much time…
Of course. It ‘s a feature request for the ST.
+1 for kits. Its one of the big ones, indispensable on my big box analogs
So, as “Syntakt still has a lot of stories to tell” according to elektron, here’s my absolute whishlist that seems it wouldn’t be such a hard competition on DTII and DNII:
a 3rd LFO ! Syntakt becomes especially interesting sound wise using short LFOs on specific machine parameters, and I find myself needing a 3rd one for longer variations, especially for live performances. Midi loopback can do wonders in that case, but then again it’s sacrificing tracks and other routing options.
Chorus : this has been lacking from day one, let’s get some chorus on those digital machines at least <3
Digital EQ on analog tracks : a second EQ just to refine that amazing kick power
Digital drum dedicated fm machine : a light version of DNII drum synth, like they did for the Tone machine, that would allow for more options dedicated to cymbals, hats, snares …
new usage for those last four pads : I don’t think 4 more tracks are necessary, I like the idea of having 4 pads dedicated to performances. I dream of a routing similar to the “all tracks” function, but with programmable toggle values. Would allow for epic build ups, modulations … I would also settle for a per track performance macro with programmable values, as can be done with modwheel and breathcontrol.
Assuming that software updates can enable the following, here’s my wish list:
- A few more digital machine types, especially for BD, SD, and CY all of which I feel are lacking compared to the analog machine options. Considering that we have many more digital tracks than analog, I feel like versatility and flavors would be great.
- On the analog side, I wish there was a way that Track 12 didn’t have to be exclusively cymbals (& CB/noise/midi). This really only leaves 3 analog tracks for other drum and synth sounds which gets limiting. I am not sure if that has to do with the hardware architecture or if it’s possible to open up the analog tracks to be any and all analog machines.
- I wish the digital machines could have more filter types from the analog side, even if modelled - a proper bandpass and so on
- Slopes for the filters if possible? ex. on the second filter page you could select from 6, 12, 24db etc.
- Adjustable or selectable response curves for the filter and amp envelopes - at least for the attack and decay stages, would be nice to select between log/exp/lin.
- More individual track FX (under the amp tab) - namely chorus and a compressor, with a couple flavors for each
- Is there any world in the software where the amp FX could be on a per-track basis rather than global? Thinking more like an insert with wet/dry rather than an FX bus send. Especially if chorus and compressor gets added, but also delay, where you want different styles or timings for a sound rather than the track using just sends. This would also open up a lot of sound design opportunities, karplus-strong type patches etc.
- Can the delay and reverb FX be expanded with a few flavors each, too? Delay could have an option of digital vs. analog, tape etc. Reverb could have selectable algos like room, plate, spring, chamber. I think the current algos sound good but I wish there was some variety there, since it all starts to sound the same after awhile.
Thank you!
Yes please
Trig modifiers need new options
- With the TRIG parameter set to OFF.
Applied pressed modifiers to sequencer steps (trigs).
If NO - Trig Mod working as usual, if YES, TrigMod value applied to sequencer steps. Its like 4 positioned performance knob on A4 - We need to add new Trig Mod destiantion from sound setup settings - Pitch bend, Modulation wheel, Breath controller, Aftertouch.
Here’s my incomplete list of feature requests - I’ve posted some of these before but I can’t find them so I’ll just drop them here again.
Major features:
Performance kits
If there’s a problem implementing kits, at least a way to link a track sound across patterns or some other workaround to having to copy-paste the track sound across patterns manually.
Master compressor
It doesn’t have to be anything fancy. I believe it could be done as a send effect if Elektron added space for any future send effects, and it would make me so happy.
Arpeggiator from A4 / DN2
I’ve seen people asking for chord mode at times, which doesn’t make sense unless they add track sharing polyphony or something else… Sounds amazing but it’s a big ask. But an arp is perfectly doable and would go so well with the device.
Performable modifier trigs with more flexibility and utility (there are a hundred great ideas on how to accomplish this)
Chorus send effect
Would make DVCO sound so good…
An option to select which tracks can be affected by ctrl-all
A toggle for the note menu to have note value constrained by current scale
Allow programming or input of non-traditional scales (microtuning)
Keytracking LFO mult (like A4 has)
A third LFO
A proper band-pass filter type for the digital multimode
Minor features:
More digital machines!
Something else on the Syn page of FX Block!
Save mute state (purple or green) after powering off and back on!
Contextual sound preview when browsing sounds while playing a track!
+1!
Been taking my Syntakt for a spin after a few months without it. It’s still a fantastic machine, but there were several moments when I wanted to activate performance kits and realized they’re not there. They really being performance to the next level, while having values jump between patterns is a total vibe killer when playing a set.
That contextual sound preview would be so clutch (as well as the rest of the list of course)
+1 to kits!
i miss the slew on the random lfo also
I think you have it
If WAV is set to RND then the SPH parameter changes to SLEW and adds slew to the transitions in the waveform.
tested yesterday and the waveform did not seems to change
It’s been working for me since 1.30. If you set random LFO depth to its max and put the destination to something like oscillator pitch or filter frequency, you should definitely be able to hear the difference as you turn SPH up from 0 to 127. You may need to slow the LFO speed down if it’s too fast to hear the individual values.
what are performance kits? do the mk2 machines have those?
good news ! will try this evening
Yes. On DT II and DN II, you can hit a button before changing a pattern, so that the sounds of your tracks will stay the same. If you then deactivate performance kit mode, the sounds will switch to that of the current pattern.
Menu option to limit the NOTE parameter to only notes in the musical scale set by KB SCALE settings.
This would facilitate three things.
-
Easily dial new notes into your sequence with the NOTE parameter and trig locks, staying in musical key.
-
Live record parameter locks on the NOTE parameter to quickly come up with new [semi-random] melodies.
-
Send LFO to NOTE parameter for arps and melodies, staying in musical key.
Yes, I’m agree for that, I don’t know if someone uses these four pads as it’s pretended to use now… but honestly, I haven’t found useless on my workflow. I would like to prefer a kind of scenes adapted from AR.
So, performance kit, and scenes for these 4 pads, would become a perfect machine.
