Over the last year or so I have been going along to document the growth of what feels like something of an experimental electronic scene in my home city of Glasgow - centred around a club night called Attack Release.
It seems like there are pockets like this springing up all over the place… which is kind of exciting to see. Sharing to perhaps inspire other folks to talk about their own experiences… or maybe to kick something off near them. And also just because putting this together was a bloody mission and a half and if it only gets 100 views I’ll throw myself in the Clyde.
already been annoying you by DM but amazing work: you’ve taken something that we’ve got to experience first-hand, enjoyed the community, magic and energy around, and shone a lovely light on it for others to see. Like you say, can maybe inspire others elsewhere.
Being dumb here but where can I find dates for the monthly Attack Release nights? I’m not on facebook, Twitter, Instagram or the like. Bloc’s own website doesn’t seem to have much info re these nights. Thanks
Normally the last Wednesday of the month, they pass out flyers for the next one on the night and I’ve definitely misplaced mine sorry. I can tell you Finlay Shakespeare and Accident Machine are on the bill, I remember that much. I’ll try and remember to come back and update you or will direct the AR guy’s to this thread
Thanks a lot for sharing this, I absolutely loved it. I wish I wouldn’t have to board a plane to return to Glasgow. But if and when, I’ll make sure a visit at Attack Release is included in the trip.
I loved watching this… it was the best thing I have seen in a while and really the reason I make music! I’m so inspired I’m hoping to start something similar in my area!! I think there is a huge demographic of other like us that make music that is not quite dance, not quite hip hop, etc… and there should be a movement like this for it as I think it could be very popular if people knew more about it.
Seems really awesome, I wish I was in Europe sometimes…lol.
This is why I love YouTube, this is a great wee documentary. Convinced my son to go with me to the next one this month. Short trip from EastKilbride for us. Think the last time I seen someone playing synths live was Cybotron at the SubClub in 2019.
