But that is just a couple of minutes of a 2 hour live set. Does it really reflect what the band is at a certain time (Blue Album, Wonky, Monsters Exist etc)?
I like their old music better. I loved the In Sides album and remember the time when I was listening to it. Really chill and very melodious tunes with great drum and synth sound design that I think inspired the artist of the following electronica/IDM period. These two tracks are my favourites. Adnan’s is such a deep and beautiful trip.
In Sides was always my favourite, my first proper exposure to Orbital early on when I was finding my feet with electronic music and so is wrapped up ion some great nostalgia. Such a rich production throughout and feels like a journey. I hate the Box tho, feel it enjoys more plaudits than it deserves. Also loved Snivilisation, tho the short guitar track somewhere in the middle of it is always a total buzzkill and an instant ‘skip’
I love the box and the ep with the different versions is absolutely amazing , agree with the track on snivilisation though ‘quality seconds’ .
Album (re-)launch show in Kingston next month:
Looking forward to seeing them in Brixton tonight. Some of our party were with me at shows for the Snivilisation and Middle Of Nowhere tours, at a “farewell” show at Glastonbury ‘04, at a come-back show in maybe 2018. Loads of memories and nostalgia here. I’m somewhat confused about having seats for this show: usually I’m up the front dancing.
I’ve seen Orbitals last gig three times now.
