Anyone with a PX5 have thoughts good or bad on the interface?
Im currently looking to do away with using bigger RME interface & totalmix in favor of a mixer with interface. That or go with a smaller interface and let that expand the mixer options. TIA
It’s a solid interface. Class compliant.
One thing to keep in mind is that, like the xone 96, it sends the analog inputs directly to the computer via USB, so pre channel. Other than that it does what it should do :). You can view the exact inputs and outputs to the computer in the manual to get an idea of the possibilities.
Edit: RME is of course on another level and probably will get you even lower latencies. But that is to be expected of course.
Is the Xone:96 audio interface working with newer MPCs (One, Live, X)?
Man… you guys are talking me into a Xone96 now. @DaveMech watched your video, those filters are quite nice and the connectivity is killer.
Although I’d love a Xone96, after watching the video I quickly realized how much I like my current set up.
I don’t really have a need to change anything.
I thought seeing the filters and eq in action would push me over the edge.
I recently got an AH+FX and I absolutely love it.
I ended up getting rid of effects I had on send/returns, and put the AH+FX on master inserts.
It seems like a small change but it’s very different, also the idea that all my mixer effect now live in one box.
I’m always looking to streamline things rather than expand.
Which reminds me about the size of the 96.
I’m sure it feels nice to work on, the ergonomics look perfect, but that’s a massive thing to put on my desk.
I may get a Xone96 down the line, but it’s not something I need to make progress.
These are very cool.
I’ve never seen one for sale though.
Very nice!
Is that what you are currently using?
How do you record, with a separate soundcard?
yeah they’re pretty rare. I doubt they made a ton.
I want to say @DonovanDwyer was selling one a year or so ago. I’m sure it’s long gone now. but maybe he can give some feedback on it (if I’m correct that he did own one).
Actually never had the 20S version, but was looking hard at them! They’re pretty rare. Someone on MW was selling one like a year ago…
MuffWiggler?
ah! so I was wrong! first time for everything!
Yeah. Here in FL as I recall.
Edit: actually it was a WZ 20:8:2… also rare.
I’m running it with an Akai Force, so should work with the MPC line as well. One of the last updates fixed the issues with pops and crackles.
I would’ve bought that for sure
There’s one on eBay right now, in North Carolina, for $500
This is cool, thank you!
I’m looking over the specs and manual now.
So are the 8-Track out’s stereo TRS jacks?
I’m trying to under stand if I can plug anything into the stereo inputs,
Then send any of those things out in stereo to the OT’s AB CD.
Do you send it out via the sends, or 8-track?
The sends are balance but the 8-track is not?
How much is unbalanced going to effect clarity?
Looks like they’re mono balanced.
Yet the two, 2-track outs are stereo balanced?
Oh wait I think I grasp it now.
Hmmmmm
Xone 96 user here, studio & live. It s awesome. Near perfect for my needs. 2 downsides:
-
USB recording of the master channel is pre inserts so if you have compressors etc there it wouldn’t be recorded in a DAW
-
I use the cue method for getting an extra selectable stereo send. When a cue is engaged the level meters show the cue’d volume. Can t be switched to master. I pretty much always have a cue send active so I can’t see what my master bus level is at.
No deal breakers but would ve been 100% perfect without these.
There’s a Xone 464 close to where I live.
English assembled with case for $700
It is remarkable how often this comes up without any manufacturer stepping up. Or at least offering interesting alternatives to the current market. Xone96 is what I have my eye on but it’s pricey, and I don’t exactly need it.
Honestly something exactly like a Mackie 1402 VLZ but take out 2 of the mono channels and give it 2 sub groups with dedicated outs and I’ll be first in line. The Alt 3/4 doesn’t quite cut it when I want to send things post aux to an external looper. Pretty sure the Xone96 is post aux (someone correct me if I’m wrong)
