I know the Yamaha URX44 is mostly an audio interface, but surprisingly, if you don’t need too many i/o, it functions rather well as a live mixer, and if you don’t need any live performance features. It has a pair of stereo outs, auto gain (god send), and clipping. The built-in effects is its weakest feature set, but I’m guessing that can be updated in future firmware. Bonus - SD Card recorder for your live shows.
This is THE perfect companion for the SSLSiX. I was just a click away from buying another one!
Also perfect when guests arrive with their guitars and fight over that one channel left on the SSLSiX that I’m using for my Bass!

I have an SSL Big Six as my main studio mixer and other smaller mixers. If I was playing out live a lot, the new Bored Brain Excelon looks like the one to get.

Its quite a weird “mixer” and lacking in many respects, big miss for me too. i think the jellymix is the one to get at this price point and feature wise.

Yeah, that’s what I mean. 5 mono inputs seems like a lot to only ever go straight down the middle. And 8 stereo inputs seems like a ton to only have 1 aux out.

It’s mono only if you switch it that way. You can plug into either left or right jack and leave it switched on Dual and it’ll be 100% paned. Probably make a great summing box mic-ing a drum kit. The video above is worth watching if you need something like a stage box that’s loaded with everything you ever wanted on stage.

Yeah, I get that. Buy why would I want my guitar or bass 100% hard panned to the left or right? On every single song?
I guess to use the L and R aux outs as separate send routes? Okay, but their levels are still tied to the same Send knob and Return knob.
It’s not that I don’t understand the functionality. What I don’t understand is the utility.

IDK. Probably because when it goes to FOH they’ll just set it all to mono anyway.

Sorry if I sound salty I guess I’m just disappointed because this thing is so close to being exactly right. But the stuff it’s missing is just bizarre to me.

LCR panning and mono are still favored by a lot of old school types. It does work and make for great sounding records when done right.

I mean, I totally get why you’re excited since you’re gonna pair it with that BiG SiX, and they’ll probably tie into each other really well. Combine those 4 thrus with the BiG SiX’s assignable outputs and extra inputs galore and it sounds like a ton of flexibility.
It’s as a standalone box that I don’t get it. It seems both overpowered and underpowered at the same time.

I don’t actually like to mix that way myself but that doesn’t mean it’s not a valid way to do things.

At half the price you get a XONE 96, two audio cards build in. Master Insert , 2x AUX send. The only downside is his weight. The xelcon seems to be much more portable. The XONE sounds great - and has click free filters. Its advantage is that it can run hybrid setups much easier than a xelcon - because you dont need extra sound card. But its 2 Kg vs 10 Kg.
Does Korg NTS-4 mixer qualify for this thread?
