About to buy this AF75 TDG for 260€ (305$?) near my place. Any thought ?

No idea what it’s worth but it’s gorgeous! Good luck with it!

Very nice looking. Probably made in indonesia. Action might be high.

Price is somewhere between good and average.

These aren’t as well made as the older ones which are similar but still would make a nice starting point. Probably want to eyeball the neck and make sure it’s straight but otherwise, I think what you see is what you get.

Nice find!

China.

There are ā€œwheelsā€ on the bridge, don’t know the name…

Tune-o-matic style bridge. It looks like it has roller ball saddles. Made in China is probably 2010 or older. For the price you won’t really find any better of that style, if you like it and the neck is straight no reason not to go for it. I really like that color.

I was thinking the action might be high close to the nut. The couple that I’ve tried (at guitar center) had a pretty high action in the lower frets, but it was quite awhile ago. Maybe this guitar had a pro setup at some point. You’ll just have to see it.

The guy put flatwound strings.
I didn’t like flatwound strings on another AF75 but the mic was a P90, not sure to like it either.

Would complement my black AF71 !

I’ve had nothing but good luck with cheap Ibanezes. Looks beautiful.

I’ve had a handful of electric guitars over the years and the only one I have at this point is an AS73. Not the same guitar, but same family. It’s a great guitar. I bought it for $350 secondhand iirc. Sometimes I think about switching out the stock pickups but I’m sure it would be a nightmare to do through the f-holes and, yknow, having ideas is way easier than executing them. I’d say check it out at least for sure.

ETA oh dang, you’re already on team ibanez semi hollow. Let’s get tattoos

I did a hole to add a pickup on my AF 71 !

But it was another guitar’s pickup. Still have to buy a new one…

For now there is a hole…

Oh wow that’s awesome! I’ve done a little guitar surgery, mostly on a cheap fretless bass I ended up selling because it weighed like 29 pounds, but nothing that extensive. Cool guitar!

The mic I wanted was out of stock.

Funny, I’ve really been itching for a white single cut hollow body like that, now I want gold hardware!
That’s a marginally better that average deal in my area but no idea about yours. I’d expect the ā€œbigsbyā€ to want a tune up on that guitar. I’m sure it works okay but if you’re inclined to use it I’d recommend the usual stuff done to cheaper bigsby style vibratos: wear in the spring, make sure everything moves smoothly (low friction), etc. Once dialed in they’re usually pretty pitch stable, the roller bridge will help with that too. That one doesn’t have a tension bar so it should feel extra wiggly which I’m a big fan of.

@get.up.trinity changing pickups, or doing any wiring for that matter, indeed sucks any time you have to work through f-holes. After having worked on a lot of them I’ve found that long surgical forceps are super helpful. I bought a bunch at a surplus store years ago. I’ve bent some to do specific tasks.

Maybe I spent more than I should, but I had some spare cash after downsizing my house, and I love teles, and my favourite colour is orange :orange_heart: so bought this beauty …

Damn, that looks gorgeous. How much does it weigh? I always thought Teles with Bigsby’s were back killers but I love how they look. Enjoy it!!

Can’t remember exactly … it’s not the lightest, maybe 10lb, but I play sitting down, so heavy guitars don’t bother me. It has a mahogany body

Looks awesome! How are you getting along with the Charlie Christian neck pickup? I assume the bridge pickup is just spec’d like a normal tele bridge pickup but custom wound using a bar magnet to match the neck?

Man, that thing looks incredible. It’s not a Brazilian fretboard, is it? How fat is the neck profile at the first fret?

Thanks. I think it looks pretty hot :fire:
I’ll have to update you with the details as I’ve just moved abroad (UK to Italy) and I haven’t plugged it in yet, as it’s still in UK)
They are both Lollar CCs, which I love, smoky and fat. The neck is a fat ish 60s profile.
The colour coded headstock is pretty cool as well I thought.

Thanks for advices, but I am more inclined to block it ! What does wear in mean ?
Main problem is for bends.
I had a Holomatic Gretsch with Bigsby. After 35 years playing guitar I never geled with any vibrato I always block. Feels more a gadget I’d barely use. I am not Jimi Hendrix and don’t particularly want to mimic its brillant war bombs effects…

I didn’t block the Bigsby in my Gretsh doesn’t seem convenient to do compared to a strato.

Also I am not used to flatwound strings. I will wait next week to take my decision. My AF71 is almost ready to receive another mic.
