For me, only adding the new functions of the DT2 on the midi sequencer and the fill/trig conditions would already be satisfying.
From how I know Elektron, I think they are pretty good at including updates in older versions. Like the Mk1ās, I have the Analog Rytm and it can do almost the same as MK2, except recording, which I think might be a hardware limitation.
But overall, IMO they are pretty good at keeping older stuff up to date.
Plea for OG Digitakt & Digitone to include naming customization for mapped MIDI CC parameters:
I know that nothing is owed and Iām already very grateful for what Iāve got so far with the OG Digitakt & Digitone combo. With that said, by now I feel like itās been a decent amount of time since the Digitakt 2 has been released already, and in full honesty itās become increasingly bittersweet to know that custom naming for mapped MIDI CC parameters on the Digitakt 2 exists for its MIDI tracks while the OG DT & DN have been left aside so far.
Using my Elektron machines with an iPad Pro setup based on AUM consistently leads me to using the MIDI tracks on the DT & DN extensively due to having easy access to virtual instruments.
Throughout this process itās been quite taxing mentally to have to remember every CC parameter Iāve programmed for any of my available total of 12 MIDI tracks dedicated to sequencing external sound sources (coming from AUv3 plugins hosted in AUM).
My way of dealing with this so far has been to document my mappings with text documents on my PC while I operate the machines. I think itās safe to state that this way of operating isnāt particularly enjoyable for DT & DN users in general.
Considering all this and how MASSIVE the improvement in user experience would become if there was a system implemented to allow name customization for MIDI CC parameters mapped on the DT & DN MIDI tracks, I think my request is reasonable and represents a fair ask.
With all that said, thank you Elektron for giving us these amazing instruments which are at the center of our music making process and consistently enable us to make music which we would otherwise probably not be able to make. Your commitment and dedication to the design of high quality electronic music instruments is greatly appreciated.
Can you guys please make the basic settings from the DT2 available in the DT1 as well???
Like the second page in the TRIG Menu where we can enable RTRG for all the trigs for example⦠it should be quite simple.
Well, it would be nice. But the device is discontinued so it 's likely that it will never happen
I am using dt2 with Aum and yes i second this request because naming midi cc is such a improvement and just knowing whatās on what knob makes midi enjoyable to use. I see why they implemented it in dt2 i hope guys at elektron can do it for dt as well
Has it been confirmed anywhere that DT1 Feature Requests are officially closed? Elektron has released firmware updates for discontined/mk1 devices in the past, no?
Iām still hoping & praying for variable envelope-slopes (exponentialālinearālogarithmic) & some other miscellaneous Q.O.L. updates⦠š„¹
Yes, but in those cases the firmware revision numbers of the mk1 and mk2 devices were kept in sync. Firmware revisions of DT1 and DT2 do not line up, they were reset to 1.0 for DT2.
Which doesnāt prove anything of course, but it gives you a hint that the OT mk1 ā OT mk2 transition is not the same as the DT1 ā DT2 transition.
now that i have a DT2, yet still have a DT1 floating around, Ive found Iāve really come to appreciate it as a midi sequencer⦠so i have it just filled up with bassline style midi tracks and such, i can easily run out to control all my monosynths and such.
Im assuming there is a tonne of folks like me out there that have made the upgrade but still have a version 1 of the dt or dn keeping them around.
It has made me realise (and i would happily pay for this as obviously it requires actual development time beyond os upgrades)ā¦
⦠for an alternative / optional firmware that turns these older boxes into full midi sequencers only - sacrificing the audio aspect to focus all the CPU power on midi duties:
-16 tracks,
-optional polyphony / monophonic midi
-convert both of the midi din out ports at the back to midi out A and midi out B allowing greater flexibility for midi controlling gear
-3 assignable midi lfos
-envelopes assignable to midi as well.
-arpeggio to midi
-pattern remix - reverse etc.
-simple and powerful pattern / track transposing in scale functions
-external midi record / looping fun stuff
failing that, providing a bit of an open source option for these older boxes would also be sick.
or just the above as a new device entirely.
from a conversation here: Polyrhythms on a Digitakt 2? - #25 by bibenu
Put in more options for track speed, or even better user options for track speed - if we want 5 against 4 have a 5/4 speed available (& 7/4), but ideally you can arbitrarily select each number. This would allow more complex polyrhythms on the dt2ā¦
Just bumping DT2 Global FX please! Used this extensively
Are people with the DT2 able to import files that are larger than 60 MB via Transfer? I canāt, and I was a bit surprised by it.
There are three features I would like to see on internal mixer page:
- small real-time meters next to each channel
- setting volume levels to 0 or 100 on one or all tracks with a keyboard shortcut
- single-page mixer view option with condensed parameters for all 16 tracks
maybe there was official information somewhereā¦
is support stopped for DT OG or updates are possible?
There have been no definitive statements, but I think the general feeling is that DT OG will likely not get updates.
I would kill to have the note editing features of the Digitone II available on the MIDI tracks of Digitakt II, along with an increased note limit.
A lot of the time when Iām performing live I find myself playing around with muting and unmuting a track in a fast succession to get a new interesting sequence (from like a 1/16 hihat). I wish there was ālive deleteā mode, so I can ābake it inā by doing this.
Like that when I āmuteā during the live delete mode it starts deleting trigs and when i āunmuteā the sequence runs normally
Could you please expose āfillā and āmaster volumeā as a midi input? Iām going to drill a hole in my digitakt and wire it up manually to a footswitch and volume pedal otherwise.
It would be nice to see exactly what the sample rate reduction is on the filter 2 page so you could dial in a specific rate.
