The BITWIG Thread

Isnt overbridge audio one way? Overbridge is designed to send audio from hardware to software. I was not aware that it was also designed to go the other way, could be wrong though, I havent used it in a long time.

You might be right. Dang it.

Are you trying to sample from Bitwig into the DT?
Would setting it to “midi/audio over Usb” work?

…wait til u’ll find ur way into the grid…

and u won’t even miss max msp integration no more…

and what cycling 74 did on top of all max patching jungle, all that eyecandy nerdy jitter stuff…

well…that’s joining the grid, once bitwig grows to 6.0 something…
just guessing here…but hey…of course they’ll take that road also…
they all started out as ableton developers in first place…

Jumped into the full version for $259 USD:

  1. Downloaded 8-track for free from Computer Music Magazine: Computer Music- Synthmaster - Data Capture

  2. Bought upgrade from 8-track from Sweetwater for $259: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/BitwigStu4Up8--bitwig-studio-4-daw-software-upgrade-from-8-track

Setting up the Analog Heat now and diving in!

I’m using Overbridge. It’s cool, I have spare outs on my audio interface that I can use.

Great I just downloaded Bitwig 8 track to see how my plug-ins work before doing any migrating from Live Suite so I tried loading up D16 Drumazon however it says missing plug-in chains and I can’t get all my outs from Drumazon, is this a limitation of the 8 track?

PS

Had this an hour and I’m liking it so far I may upgrade to the full version soon.

Cheers

Click ‘Add Missing Chains’

Doesn’t work mate tried that it’s just greyed out in 8 track.

Bitwig’s site says it’s not possible with 8-Track:

  • VST multi-out and side-chain not supported

Hello dear bw users. I have a basic but essential question about automation write in a clip with a controller.

(Unfortunately I can‘t even remeber if it worked sometimes, I think yes but not sure anymore because i only used bassstation as controller sometimes and midi mapping sadly doesn’t work well there.)

Thing is: with the mouse i have to click the middle button ( i think touch) in the play menu.
Then when i move cutoff knob in a softsynth
it draws the curve and that curve stays when the clip loops. ( like plock automation on elektrons, the normal pattern automation way i would say)
I got a cheap nektar lx 25+ , a mistake (very buggy and strange despite having bw 8 track in the bundle) There when it loops automation curve becomes flat. I think i tried all 3 controller takeover modes.
I thought its the buggy lx25, tried mappining a encoder of my analog 4 ( with macbook) but the same, curve becomes flat the next loop cycle…
Now i can get a push 2 cheap but if that doesnt work ( hope i make a mistake or a bug) i think i give up making loop sound with a controller.
Sorry and thanks

I think you should stop recording after the first cycle.

Thanks. I‘ m far from a computer now, dont remember if there is a behaviour setting for only record one cycle. But the thing is with the mouse it works as i want , know it from grooveboxes ( elektron, korg er-1 ) but not witha knob mapped. And don‘t remember if it worked with a previous bw version. I think yes but not sure.

Ok, bitwig answered my question. They wrote touch automation write mode only works with a mouse or with a touch-sensitive controller.
Ok so somehow the elektrons work different tecnically ( something obvious probably, just not for me at the moment :)) because here it works, I press live rec and turn the encoder for cutoff or whatever, it loops and the automation remains…
I’ ll get a cheap push to try out, i‘ll see…

Something similar: someone is using a nektar lx 25+
or knows how i could go to the next user controller page (with > and user)without moving the playhead also?
I thought something cheap, simple and bw-supportet for most basic stuff, but what a desaster… i‘ll use mouse and computer here and sometimes record analog or elektron grooveboxes to tape or overbridge i think
Thanks to nauts and have a nice day

Sooo can’t seem to make Bitwig and AR sync nicely, the AR is like a 16th step early. It’s the same whether I use the internal AR sequencer or send notes from Bitwig. What am I missing? It says that at has 73 ms of latency but I have no way of influencing that value (as far as I could tell)
Bums me out, tbh
Connected them via overbridge (edited to add this info)

I sold my AR after an afternoon of trying to make it play nicely with Bitwig. I tried just sending transport from Bitwig so AR used its own timing, then clock from Bitwig and vice versa too. Nothing worked. Whatever I did, there was jitterwithin the loop. If I lined up one hit, others were off. Did my head in. I never worked out if it was AR or Bitwig at fault :frowning:

(Not very helpful, I know, soz)

Had a look at some of the videos, and damn man this looks pretty fun!
Never knew much about it before, kinda thought it looked bad and ignored it :stuck_out_tongue:
I was thinking about updating Studio one or Reason (V12 drops soon) but Bitwig looks like such a fun environment with the grid and modulators.

I’ve ben pretty lazy in getting familiar with the Grid, so I spent a while seeing if I could build a recreation of a Subharmonicon in it - the answer was, yes I could. It’s actually pretty good (IMO); figuring out how the Grid’s phase worked was probably the hardest bit. It might not be the most efficient or best way to do it, but it works!

Does “the Grid” support the creation of MIDI events (and sending them out to a VST and/or external HW)?

I’ve never used Bitwig

Thanks

…feel free to drop and share ur grid creation at…bitwiggers…

https://bitwiggers.com

…and @lat3shift…sure…grid offers also midi modules…
everything comunicates with everything…
