More good stuff from Polarity. Live looping possibilities with native devices.

…each time again, i’m so blown away, what the concept of nesting devices can actually DO FOR U…from dead simple beyond it ALL…

since i really lost track with daw wars finally and recently, due to the fact that bitwig is my very last sonic weapon of choice no matter what, i wonder, why no other daw ever came up with this ooh sooo universal concept of nesting devices…

So, Bitwig has a performance looper after all! :hushed:

Upgraded to 5.2.7 finally on a new machine.
It’s a shame, but it’s like second patch in Grid that I actually recorded, nothing serious, just wavetable FM over factory sample, plus funky beat.

…a performance looper after all…!?

or, finally, thanx to polarity, we all now can wrap our heads around the fact, how simple it was, actually since more than 2 years already…

and 5.2.7 won’t see my work machine…that last one, i’ll skip and wait just a few days longer until we get FIVE POINT THREE…

There are many interesting FX Grid presets in version 5.*, even some live granular effects and BASTL THYME emulation

Just for fun - which is your favorite “soundtrack” for Bitwig version announcement video? I’m struggling to choose between 5.2 (Comp+ and EQs) and 3.3 (Polymer), but most of them are quite great. I wonder who’s doing them?

Also, I hope they’ll keep updating this summary webpage:

I’m waiting for the next round of “upgrade deals” in order to graduate to the full bitwig studio license. I started with the 8-track version for 20€, and upgraded to first the 16-track version and then to the “producer edition”, always upgrading only when there’s a hefty discount… But have never even used it yet LOL! I’m saving myself for the studio licence (and the immense powers of the grid)

That’s pretty wild. I admire your restraint! What you’re using in the meantime?

Been on ableton live since v1. I’ve always said I will migrate to using bitwig as soon as they introduce native video playback support… which AFAIK is still not onboard. I need video playback for my post-production jobs

No, it’s not. This apparently works well, but of course it’s not a native solution :frowning:

VidPlayVST - Bitwig Page

i had a look at the beta changelog and was a bit confused about the newly added controller script for the novation sl mk3. have there been some new firmware updates or other reason for this?

yes, I do know about vidplay. but its not a native solution (and I need it to be that in order to receive full support from bitwig devs)

Looks like a bug fix (" Change Value Object to no send old value anymore" - whatever that means…)

…i suggested to them already a few times, some natively embedded video track…
even a next level product like the “eyegrid”…a polygrid like modular sandbox for visuals…but for now, they say, still some unfinshed business on daw terretory they wanna do before…and embedding video is a little x tricky in bw’s case, since they intertwined/hardwired all tempo with naked phase all the way down to sourcecode…so any timecode stamp related video needs some bridging xtra work…but my guess is, they got that covered pretty soon…5.5 will see limiter+ and a mindlvlowing new feature set for all sorts of midi editing in the pianoroll…and with 6.0 they will finally start to enter the visual side of it all…

in the meantime, i can’t wait to get my hands on the out of beta options of this…

Oh wow, never thought of that but something like this would be super cool!

Having said that, I’m happy they replied to you with:

…yeeaaah…once they get there, and they will, bitwig is gonna be THE ALL contentcreator software…

next and final level of bedroomproducing…since, no matter what great musical content u create/produce…it’s only half worth it, if u can’t create/produce video/visuals along with it likewise also…

not to mention the fact, it’d be a shame if u could not work on any picturelock/soundtrack/score stuff alongside all within one same software like bitwig…it’s MADE for this…the option to lock onto some third party video player is not really doing the trick…

so, i got hi hopes, soon enough i can finally skip all these various video software options out there and “just” cover it ALL within one same mainframe thing called bitwig…damned sure, they won’t miss out on that option and SEE IT also clearly as their road into the future…

v5.3 final is out of beta
