I’ve got the mini version of the Filter Factory. It’s pretty knarly. Used it early on 2000 or so, with a Dj setup. Ended up blowing out my speakers.
the Music Easel has had some form of patch memory ever since it was first invented 50 years ago. back then, you would solder together points on a circuit board that would plug into the card slot on the top, and those were your memories. when they re-did it in the 2010’s it had a version where you used an iPad or iPhone to recall the patch (in conjunction with a device plugged into the card slot). now there’s a Program Manager that plugs into the card slot or can take the place of the card slot. so, Beh basically just did that by default. the Buchla version also integrates with a web app where you can further edit the patch, complete with attenuating the levels that are patched (even where such an option is not physically available on the synth itself). patch memory has been a Buchla thing for a while, in fact. it’s the main point of the 200e series (which is almost 20 years old).
on a different note, I saw this today:
interesting that it doesn’t mention it being multitimbral. I don’t see much point in a 16 voice version of the Prophet that isn’t at least two part multitimbral. just seems like overkill.
You mean :
I don’t think there has been a price yet.
Feature set hasn’t been established. For instance will the use their poly-aftertouch keybed in a format with fewer keys ? There’s an outside chance on that.
I will speculate the Neptune-80 is well under $1000, The DeepMind 6 is $600 for comparison.
Pre-ordered the Syncussion. No idea when it’s expected to reach the states. Any ideas, or do I have to call Sweetwater?
I hope they don’t do any poly aftertouch keyboard whatsoever. None of the keys Behringer puts in their gear was a succes in my opinion. It will never be a company that goes for high quality.
That said I hope they do a desktop version like the Deepmind desktop. All Behringer needs to focus on is the sound. If they don’t nail it everything else becomes pointless.
Since releasing the spring reverb and possibly the mutator, I’m wondering if B will do a classic delay like one of the famous tape delays in the same format.
Thanks for the link - great video. Interesting that Mutronics killed the Mutator when SSM stopped making the 2045 - I wonder if this means that the Butator will use 2044 chips instead given that Coolaudio don’t appear to be manufacturing a 2045 clone (at least it’s not on their website).
To follow up on my own post. Sweetwater hasn’t received an ETA yet. Time to forget that I ordered it so I’m not eagerly looking at my emails for updates every morning like a teenager waiting for UPS to deliver his Columbia House cd order.
I also ordered it, but via Thomann. From what I know their predictions are always quite correct. There it says 11-14 weeks…
But the official post from Behringer says it isalready to be shipped from their factory right now. We will see
Desktop UB-XAs on their way?
Old Image
Wonder what the price will be, maybe the classic 599 they always go with…?
Hopefully the desktop units will be rack mountable and the mounts could be included like the Deepmind.
From the looks of it I would assume it will fit a 19" rack fine. I don’t expect Behringer to include any extra’s though which would only drive up the price.
I would prefer though that they invest in better caps on the knobs instead of the most cheapest feel ever. It’s not only about looks or sound as an instrument also has to be touched and played. If Behringer underpays its employees a little bit more we could get better knobs!
The BCR32 has been asked about here a lot. A little more word.
At least the wait is getting shorter.
This news sounds good. This is definitely more complex on the software side of things for Behringer of all the systems done so far. Them being confident of their getting this right is reassuring.
Wow the original bcr2000 was one of the better midi controllers and that came out almost 20 years ago. It was very versatile, with the only problems i had was that it wasn’t usb powered and it was bulky (but well built). Looking forward to see how this new one will be
In most of their posts they ask for feedback for the prototypes and quite often they changed a lot based of the feedback. This is actually quite amazing.
On the same time it’s not just teasing. They released over 40 synths in the last 5 years (see my post here: The Behringer Gear-in-progress Thread - #1988 by flocked)
1601 still nothing. And they better do a grey version!
They’re asking if they should do their own version of the Fairchild 670 compressor/limiter.
From what they say on their Facebook page, it sounds like as they often enough do, they intend to recreate the technology, specifically using vacuum tubes.
Part of the controversy with this would be that this one is currently being made and sold. Here’s a listing from Sweetwater.
ADDED : I see another company ( Heritage Audio ) already copied this one for $10,000. There are 22 tubes plus 8 audio transformers in theirs !
ADDED ( Five Months Later ) :
I didn’t know this before but Cool Audio makes and sells a range of vacuum tubes. ( Reference ) Expect more of these sorts of tube products.
