The all things MPC Thread (Part 4)

For sure.

Also, no harm in waiting to see what comes on 404 day.

i just watched Gnarly’s demo and she made a nice beat but i didn’t like any of the punch in effects… this thing is pretty lit though, even if koala is as good the pads and built in IO are clutch.

Most likely nothing, if not SP with internal battery and speaker and call it 404 sx mk2, however, hoping for an updated 606 or MV8800 to answer against the MPCs.

Are there any rumors that there’s going to be a new 404 hardware or you’re just speculating?

They have been enjoying releasing firmware updates on that day.

I haven’t actually even updated mine in years. That last Serato update seemed kinda meh to be and I haven’t paid attention in awhile.

Jon waynes video is by far the most hilarious out of all of them… don’t miss it if you missed it
he had me laughing through out it

No I’m spit balling here, hence why I said most likely nothing except for maybe sample packs which they do every year.

What are your immediate thoughts? Is this the one you’ve been hoping for?

Not sure if that was for me, but I was referring to the fact that the 404 firmware updates have come on April 4th, 4/04… so I’m waiting to see about that, if anything.

*oops my bad, didn’t read your whole post :upside_down_face:

the machine seems to be in a good state for release … the undo buttons do something, no crazy discussions about latency , the demo/retail presentations aren’t avoiding big areas of the device functionality because they still don’t function properly or freeze the device if used … … congrats to akai . price seems competitive with move / ko / roland etc and its always good that launch day / availability in stores is the same day too…

i’m not a fan of the sequencer list … (prefer xox / multiple tracks ) … but thats probably my main gripe … overall it seems to be a better product than the mpc2000 i had many years ago.

Is this the MPC mini you’ve been waiting for, or something even smaller?

I think I saw someone changing the knob behavior between catch-up, scale, and absolute. But I can’t find anything in the manual. Am I misremembering?

its in loopop video (knob behavioiur)

I’ve never used it, but the pads are far better than the 404, imo. They are smaller, but not minuscule or anything, so finger drumming is super easy. The build quality is solid. The little armrest is cool, and adds some class. I hooked it up with one USB cable to a MioXL and that powers it as well as sends it clock and MIDI from my hapax. No sync issues, everything works.

It looks good on the desk, they did a really nice job with the design.

I saw that too, I believe it was in the loopop video

Do you have the time step? Didn’t find it in the chapters

don’t think I’ve seen this video linked.

He talks about the Pads a little and plays guitar into it with the MPC gain knob only half way

theres definitely a handful i’ve never implemented in anything, some of them i just need to take the few seconds to assign some good default parameters so they dont blow out my speakers when i activate them. but the handful that i do use consistently are unique and it’ll be interesting to see what the mpc equivalents sounds like. like im very curious to see how like the cassette sim, the 404 one is perfect for me
