That Syntakt Sound

Thank you! Luke Vibert was one of my heros. Still is somehow but i lost interest in his music. Syntakt leads me to breaky electro stuff quite often.

Ha, love it. Gotta have this blasting on Halloween night when kids come knocking on your door :fearful: :scream: :skull:

Too funny!!

Could use Song Mode to mute/unmute part of it and then set it on looping

Yeah that would work. I currently just use probability on a lot of the sounds/steps to basically make it an endless variation, but I would use song mode to have more patterns with different sounds

Ya that too. As someone who has a pretty decent collection of 60s/70s (LPs) and 80s (cassette) halloween/horror records, I really love what you did here. Thanks for posting it up :+1:

The main lead/texture comes from modular, but everything else (percussions, bass and what not) is Syntakt. Still in love.

I’ve been running the Syntakt through the Mood and Chroma Console and I feel like I’ve got a new synth!

ambient syntaktech

Slowly finding my way with the Syntakt again. Now i know why the analog filter on the fx track makes it special. Among a few other things of course.

Thanks for all the inpiration! Without you fellow syntakticians i wouldn’t have this precious little electronic box next to me right now.

Sounds really good. How many Buchla Voices are in that jam?

Hello friends.

After much procrastination I finally got around to releasing an EP of rattly dub techno on bandcamp. I’m using the Pokelok moniker that has stuck with me for a while. These are all single takes from the Syntakt, so I found it relevant to post it here.

I’m posting this here once, and never again as I hate spam
Future releases will be posted in a dedicated thread for my music (see below).

My elektronauts thread for the current release and future releases:

That’s all. Thanks if you listen

Edit: I forgot the most important thing! All the nice comments on my music in this thread is one of the main reasons I’ve ended up releasing this. So here’s a BIG thanks to all who liked and posted nice comments

One oscillator coming front the Buchla, one coming from the moog!

A short live session where the voice is routed through the Moog DFAM’s external input, processed inside the Elektron Syntakt, while the modular handles background modulation and textures.

If you’re curious about the process, feel free to ask!

synthatik noise beat

Everyday after work i sit down and explore a bit more of the Syntakt. It’s not always instantly rewarding and it’s not so easy to get a good mix. Sometimes the fx track gives a nice sparkle to an element but there’s one frequency which peaks out. Trying to sculpt the sound with the filters helps but it’s not always possible to get it right. At least for me.

I have to add that i only used it standalone so far and tried to squeeze a lot out of it to get a finished track. I think i ask a bit too much of it. As a synth, drum machine or experimental sound source teaming it up with other devices it would be way easier to get to the sound i want. Or maybe i just need more time with it.

It’s really a special realationship with the Syntakt for me. It inspires me to find new ways and also restricts me and leads me to road blocks.
“You thought this sound would go well with the others? F no, try another one or tweak it some more you lazy bastard!”

And then there are these other situations where it’s like “Oh, you want to work and program this specific sound like a sophisticated scientist? Here’s a sound with way more flavor for free! Just tweak these two knobs you dummy.”

The cool thing is that you always start with nothing. You only have these simple sounds in the beginning and after a while something evolves from it.
The blandness of some of the core sounds makes it even more exciting. And the UI is fantastic too. “Look mum, i’m a sound designer. I just hit randomize on this page and boom!”

Nice track. It’s so hard to mix in the box on the syntakt. I’ve been thinking about getting a digitakt or digitone so I can use one box for synths and one for drums and try to keep the mixes a little cleaner

Great timbres and atmosphere. Like this noisy drony broken beat.
I think that I feel the same about Syntakt - it’s my own DAW with 12 track of everything what you want.
