Any valid link for the tempera discord server?

I decided to rewrite the desktop chrome webmidi app sequencer *fugue|temper *I posted earlier as I was finding it a bit cumbersome afterall. I’ve consolidated the note and emitter tracks into 4 tracks so they work together in a much tighter way and added a couple more useful things. For example you can create upto 4 note chords (instead of single note) and also probability per step. I spent last night playing around with it and it seems to be working pretty well. It’s free for anyone to use or abuse. The emitter sequencing is only applicable to Tempera of course but it also works as a four track polyrhythmic note/chord sequencer hooked up to other soft or hardware devices > guide and link to app via mira — Guide
Thank you for sharing this, @jasl. Your more than proof of concept makes me think… Is there a way to “play” the Tempera with a sequencer like the Oxi One? “Just” map sequencer tracks to Tempera tracks, in an 8x8 sequencer grid.
With any sequencer sending midi notes.
Depends on what do you want to trigger on Tempera. You can trigger emitters with notes 0-127 that change pitch or trigger emitter cells with notes 0-64
As @sezare56 says, yep it’s very possible. It is a little involved to setup but probably super easy with the oxi. I don’t have one so I have no idea. I’m going to experiment with my Octatrack when I have time but I was having fun coding a few things ![]()
An example of how it works :
if we want emitter 3 active on row 4 track 7 and then we want to remove it, this has to happen >
Activate emitter cc10 v2 (emitters are values 0-3)
Place emitter cc11 v39
Remove emitter cc12 v39
Within that you send a note value to sound it.
There’s lot’s to sequence and control on Tempera with external gear/software.
Am I completely wrong or Tempera does not have a Performance recoding option and so the only output Is through the Main output? Seen a lot and one of the RMR video were a jazz set seems like a generative machine out of loops …
@undiagnosed it is possible to record mix internally but the recording time is 11s max…
Performance can be recorded via midi with an external midi sequencer in a linear way.
Possible to record notes in a looped sequence but can be messy if you change emitters during performance.
(There is a specific message to change emitter so previously recorded emitters can change.)
Thanks, 11s of Internal Recording of everything you do on the surface means nothing, I wonder why but presumably because the Device has no internal Sequencer so no need to dump it on Disk. So even triggering the 8 Tracks from Midi the Only way is to connect the Mains to a Daw or recording device. Good to know
I was Tempted by a Torso S-4 but this device looks more appealing to me in terms of mangling a loop.
Here’s an alternative way to create sample sets for Tempera (or anything else really). I wanted a quick dirtyish way to get audio tracks filled and this helps with prep.
Uploaded audio is divided into 8 equal segments across the entire uploaded file duration but starting at the first transient. Activating ‘transi end’ detects the last transient which avoids long fades or silence in the later segments if that’s what you prefer. So if you load a long file you get segments across that file - if it’s short you get overlayed repeats - either way it can be unpredictable and that makes it creative.
You can export all 8 tracks in one folder at one time so after putting that onto your SD you can load files easily into a canvas in one go. (Or export and upload individual tracks to other folders only)
It has a few daft features worth exploring - click on the info icon top right in the app for the guide.
Love the things you come up with. Creating a canvas from blank is perhaps the more tedious part of the synth, so having a quick way to navigate samples, like this, really shapes off the friction for me. Will give it a go tonight
Thanks! Btw loved the sequencer.
Also updated the colour scheme on mira to correspond more closely to the default on Tempera (on request from Martijn on the discord channel) You can find it here > mira

I have a project in mind and want to integrate tempera in it. Could be possible to transform nature sound samples into something melodic? Yesterday I tried very very quickly with noise from the sea, traffic and birds and went too far in the dark/industrial atonal territory hehehe.
Easier with birds of course !
With noisier atonal sounds, you can try Rake Filter (comb filter) with Filter Keytrack set to max; you can get notes from anything this way…
You can also try bandpass (also with Filter Keytrack)
Wow amazing, I’ll try that many many thanks!

This is impressive. You’re an expert. Thanks a lot!
