Telepathic Instruments Orchid

not at all, I wish it was metal too, but it does feel solid in my opinion

The sp404 mkii case from analog cases fits it perfect (that’s what I’m using)

This thing is straight up perfect for people like me. The price point might be a bit off the mark considering its current feature set, but the recent updates were pretty huge and I’m guessing there should be more.

The sounds are great, but again, a bit limited. Running it through the Strega or Soma Cosmos is pretty instantly gratifying.

It’s actually gonna replace a sequencer for me … so in my eyes, totally worth it, but also understand it’s not for everybody.

I thought what are they thinking at first but I love it too… also use it with a cosmos and any pedal I can get my hands on… nothing but lovelies going on, and they’ve released the beta for designing patches from scratch which I haven’t had time to get into but I’m sure I will after the beta is over… I only wish the keys weren’t super crap, or that it had an midi in port.

Looking forward to getting my hands on this as well, bud sadly Mac only for now.

I’m on a mac but sadly they want 50 bucks for it, umm I think they should take that 50 out of the zillion they charged for it

A little bit ridiulous, I agree.

It looks pretty cool tho, 4 oscillators, 4 LFOs, can’t gather too much from the screenshots though.

Would be amazing if they somehow implemented a way to make your own drum tracks as well.

that would be cool, and for everybody reading this that 50 bucks isn’t even the regular price that’s a discount, i think the price out of beta will be $129 smackaroos :flushed:

So does the bass mode follow the harmony of the chord track? Like how OP-XY and Oxi One does it?

I imagine this and the Dirtywave M8 being a fun little set up

yep

regarding the DIN midi out, can you assign the chord and bass midi to output on seperate midi channels?

I think you can

Yeah makes sense via usb but wondering if it can be set up internally.

Do you have one? I’d appreciate it if you could check if those options are available in the config/settings on the hardware itself?

I’ll give it a looksy

so basically you’re wondering if the Midi din has the same functionality right?
it does, it’s pretty much plug and play because the midi channels are hardwired and all you have to do is connect and go.
ch.1 = chords
ch.2= performance mode
ch3.= bass notes

ok well scrap all that, just updated and it seems that now the midi channels are all freely assignable.

on the orchid you’d press the options knob in
scroll to midi
and there you can set whichever ch you want for each of those 3 parts.

My Orchid finally arrived yesterday. Seemed like it might not at all since it was almost 30 full days before any kind of shipping update.

First impressions:

  • this fucking thing is going to stay
  • the key signatures are going to end up recognizable in pop music
  • Stock sounds may get tiring but the new app Pistol will keep it fresh
  • bugs are going to keep it out of live performance for awhile
  • it’s absolutely good enough for what it is
  • yes it’s overhyped

:grin: I concur

What are the live performance bugs?

There’s either sketchy programming with memory leaks or the tiny glockenspiel quartet inside is drunk.
