Teenage Engineering TX-6 Mixer

I’ll definitely prepare some favorite patterns, just because I can now and it’s nice to have them. But I’ll stick to the OP-XY for sequencing.
Speaking of which, now that there’s a configurable midi knob mode on the tx-6, one could set up the knobs to control say the volume, filter frequency and mod wheel (which can be configured per patch) for the first 6 tracks of the OP-XY. Track 7 and 8 might then be used to play some live melodies on top and might even be linked. Seems like a fun set up I might try one day.

I kinda wish there was a desktop or mobile app to create sequences and transfer em to these user slots easily

The new firmware update made multitrack recording on my Linux system (steamdeck) possible! Very nice!

Clarification on the ‘Configurable midi knob mode’: do you mean on the midi track?

Steve is clearly “holding it wrong” in this photo.

No, all the knobs on the tx-6 can now be configured to transmit midi cc values instead of adjusting the internal parameters like EQ.

I meant to post this in the tp-7 thread but I’m too embarrassed to move it now

Go it, I thought you meant on the OPXY.

Is there anyone experiencing a very low AUX output? if I turn it up it starts distorting until it stops working. AUX send is one of the best features of this mixer, and mine seems to have a hardware issue, as I am running the latest firmware and was the same with previous firmware versions. Thanks

Seems like it’s a hardware failure, as I don’t have any problems with the aux output on my tx-6, no matter how soft or hard I push it. You might wanna check if you have accidentally switched the settings with the cue output:

But even then, nothing should be distorted.
Another option to troubleshoot would be to check on the receiving end of the aux output? Maybe you’re clipping a pedal that can’t take line levels?

Thanks a lot for taking the time to explore possible issues. Yes, I did check the SWITCH mode, and happens the same. It seems an actual hardware issue in the AUX output itself, because I can manage to SWITCH modes and get the AUX to use the Headphones output. Such bad luck, and I bought directly from TE. I am in process of returning/changing it. Thank you!

Battery life used to be fantastic on mine, I’ve had it a year or so and the battery drains much faster now and has some other wonkiness. Anyone experience this?

It doesn’t fully charge and just went from 23% to 15% in 80 seconds :frowning:

Edit: And it just died straight from 12% to 0 in 2 min. Wtf is happening?! Lol

Definitely a faulty battery. Hopefully TE can warranty it for you. Mine is used everyday for at least 6 hours straight. I charge to 90, unplug and charge again at 10. Battery still lasts all day if I’m out of the studio.

Just to add, I absolutely love this thing. The only thing I can’t stand is that the paint on the fx buttons has fully worn off.

The tiny Decksaver was easily the best addition to this outside of the TE micro cable pack. Probably saved its life ten-fold from things falling on it, or being mashed in my bag with not but an elastic band holding the DS onto it. Just wish it would fit into an Altoids case for maximum stupidity.

Yeah, I absolutely love it too, and have the decksaver which is great! Maybe it’s the firmware update? I recently added it and noticed the battery problems. Can a firmware update affect battery life?

I messaged teenage engineering and am waiting to hear back.

What is best practice for the battery?
I know you’re not supposed to charge more than 90% but my TX is permanently used at one spot - always attached to my studiocomputer.

As a result, The battery is always at 100% (99%) and that might damage the battery in the long run!?!

I assume the battery will charge whenever it is attached to the computer?

How do you cope with this?

You can just turn off USB charging if you’re worried about that. The battery will run down while you’re connected to the computer but you can just turn it on when needed.

I’m not sure if that’s worse than leaving it plugged in all the time or not - the TX-6 doesn’t have one of those settings like the iPhone or Switch 2 that caps charging at 90%.

Thanks - I looked for that solution in the menus, but might have overlooked it.

It’s a bit stressful to manage that way though (on top of all the other batteries I have to nurse…)

I really had to laugh when I saw that someone made a teetsie tiny decksaver for it :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:.

It’s kind of confusing, it’s in the menu as ground isolation - it’s meant to be a solution for people experiencing ground hum.
