No new firmware, just… advertising bugfixes I guess.
the gif of a giant list of fixed bugs that they shipped it with is not the flex they think it is
I reckon it means no major new updates for a while
It’s just a marketing email to promote sales and reminding of frequent updates.
I could not vibe well with my OG OP-1 and with higher cost of OP XY would get a different synth. Plus need something to pair well with my new Jomox AB MK2 maybe a Prophet 10.
This was my thought exactly, I’m like totally shocked at the amount of bugs they released this thing with…
I think you can blame the ever increasingly complex products with the astronomical R&D costs for that. Having a product like this stuck at the QA stage for a year is bound to be really bad for business
Unfortunately it’s the new normal for a lot of similar products these days. The good news is it’s in a pretty good (?!) state at this point also with hopefully much more to come. Rough for early adopters though.
Some of my best OP-XY jams have come from the early, buggy firmware so I guess it depends on one’s perspective. At least the controller is solid. When OP-Z launched w/ the faulty shift button that was the worst I was losing trigs/ideas all the time it was super frustrating.
Yeah it really hasn’t bothered me at all, I didn’t cram the device with samples when I first got it and have gradually increased the complexity in how I use it over time, seemingly in line with the various fixes. So been very useable for me since day 1. Lots of welcome improvements though and looking forward to whatever’s next. (Drum synth is my biggest want atm)
You can already sample your belly drumming in with the mic though… isn’t that enough?
that is why I usually wait some time after new synthesizers and video games are released. I waited on the DB01 and LXR02 to get updates before purchase.
