Hah! Careful what you ask for because that’d be a dream come true for me. Especially if combined with haptic feedback.
Ive just heard back from KMR Audio and im 4th in the queue so i should get one when they arrive in the Mid of Dec
Worth the wait considering i paid £1709 for it
But the op-z had the phone app which is actually a better, clearer screen
I didn’t understand the design choices on the XY on launch and I still don’t.
I can totally relate to the folks who struggle with the small fonts.
I recently stopped fighting the inevitable and came to terms with the fact that I need readers, so fortunately XY’s fonts have not been an issue. Readers are like magic though-- I can friggen see again… crystal clear like!
OP-XY is an evil goth machine inspired by Germany and it sadistically wants to harm your vision.
Same here had problems reading the M8 so i had to buy Readers too Old age Sucks
OP-Z: “We’re taking a strong stance against the colorblind”
OP-XY: “We have expanded our stance to include everyone who’s sighted”
Who’s planning on buying the black leather sleeve for their OP-XY? I’ve already inflicted a lot of pain on my wallet. I figure I might as well go all the way since the OP-XY has taught me so much about enjoying pain.
I saw some in-use photos of the white version and it looked pretty crummy over some time/use.
The black probably won’t have the same issue looks-wise, but functionally it seemed fairly useless, and then it’s $250. I’m planning on not buying fwiw.
Yeah tbh the leather case doesn’t seem like much protection at all and it’s €€€. A Decksaver and Analog Cases hardcase is .
I use this leather case for my MacBook and I love how it provides enough protection while adding minimal bulk.
I prefer these types of cases that don’t require much effort to open/close and keeps the unit light and compact how it’s meant to be while providing enough protection for my needs.
What’s the point of this sleeve that leaves the delicate knobs out, exactly? I always wondered the same thing about the one for the op-1f
Lol at least they didn’t send Joe
I like your style! I think that case works better on a macbook. I have a similarly thin case on mine, keeps the lean profile intact and provides enough scratch protection, etc. I don’t really get into scenarios where i’d drop my laptop so it works perfect for preventing scratches from stray cables + so I can set things on top of it when it’s closed.
A laptop opens and is used differently than the XY tho.
This leather wrap, in practice, seems to get in the way when open. Basically, when open, it’s either laying flat in front of you, curling up if you lift your hands OR if you wrap it under it tilts the unit slightly away from you. So, I saw someone use it by opening it up, ripping the unit off of it (velcro) and flipping it around. Which to me would feel weird to do each time, I don’t love the regular wear and tear of velcro (but that’s just me) and I also saw someone say that it was applying light lateral pressure on their encoders, which seems unideal.
if you do get it, please send pics and your thoughts!
Actually, you’re right. It does seem finicky to get the sleeve holes on and off the knobs. I really want someone to make a case like this designed for the OP-XY:
Just leather form fitted to the base and sides to offer some protection from areas where scratches are most likely to happen.
best OP-XY video yet! very entertaining and gives quite a good glimpse at what seems to be possible with the OP-XY
People should know it’s a presentation by one of the TE employees on the XY, not just the usual Andertons shenanigans. Definitely worth a watch, thanks!
True. But, if they went through all that trouble to put a screen there, why make it unusable for presumably, a large portion of their users who can’t read that 0.5pt font? I’m quite certain for most of us we would prefer something more legible still. Oh well, one can only wish they would include a feature to upsize the fonts but I doubt that’s their priority.
It’s a fun machine still. I thought Elektron boxes were hard to understand but everything clicks once you understand its consistent methodology. TE… I’m still trying to wrap my head around theirs.
