Teenage Engineering OP-XY

Yes, this is how it works.

“I have always been captivated by the unique sound and design of Mutable Instruments’ Rings since its introduction to the Eurorack world. Drawing inspiration from its distinct resonant qualities, I’ve created six meticulously crafted multi-sample sound packs for the Teenage Engineering OP-XY. Each pack is designed to bring the lush, organic tones of Rings into the hands of OP-XY users, offering a versatile palette for creating ambient and experimental music.”

Is this also the most reasonable way to multitrack export? Bounce them through the external output one by one?

I am a ‘light’ m8 user for over a year now and although the device is truly awesome for features and capability I feel I cannot connect with it in the way I want. The navigation and hexicecimal approach takes most of the fun away for me and although I think it’s a truly amazing device I just can’t gel with it. The xy solves a lot of my issues with the m8 and yes it’s over x3 times more expensive but I am at a point where I don’t care how much it costs if it addresses my needs and the xy appear to very much do that

Ey! If you can afford it and think is going to improve your music … go for it!

To people who find OP-XY sound “weak” or not good enough, Try turning off the keyboard velocity from settings.

The velocity sensitivity is set to hard by default. Means you really need to punch into keys to get a normal volume. I bet everyone is being super polite to their devices and that’s probably why it sounds chill. I mean even I thought it sounded super tame and now it sounds like a monster.

I’m gonna keep mine off until I feel more comfy with it.

Pitching down.

Probably, but I don’t know. I really like the master saturator and compressor and I don’t see myself recording individual tracks from the OP-XY. I’ll stick to just recording the main output as a stereo file and call it a day.

I did the same (turned off velocity). I also turned up the screen brightness to 100 and the led brightness down to 30. Much better for my eyes & fingers :+1:t4:

I’m feeling I’m in the same boat as you. Although I love the M8 form factor, portability, and also the power, the hexadecimal and key combo presses somehow is tripping me. I know a lot of people say it will become second nature, but when the XY appeared, and I have been taking it out to cafes, it is so much more accessible. Not as portable, but it isn’t impossible.

But after waiting 3 months for the M8, not sure if I want to give that up too… decisions kicked down the road.

Worth flagging that I put an order in on the 19th of Nov with KMR and as of yesterday they were still chasing their supplier for stock with no indication of when it would land.

Kind of upset I’m missing out on a 10% discount on that price now. 🥲

I ended up ordering with Juno - worked out about 5% off I think.

Since you didn’t already get the product, it seems reasonable to me to still be able to get that discount. I’d contact them. You could cancel your order, and reorder. If you already paid, it’s possible they’ll sort that out :v:

When did you order, and when did you get it?

Ordered on Monday, delivered on Tuesday.

What an odd comparison.

I know this is a bit nitpicking but i think my device might have a bit defect on the screen. Not sure if it’s normal but I don’t think so. towards to the corners it gets a bit brighter ( not to best way to describe so I’ll just add photos )

I’m not exactly sure if it’s the viewing angle or something wrong with the screen. Maybe I keep the device in the office - which is usually a bit colder than usual - would it have any effect? idk

If you pay for a high end ‘premium quality’ device, you get to nitpick!
