I think all it does is interpolate the values between the value changes and is dependent upon what parameters you decide to lock. It connects 2 different values by either ramping up or ramping down.
here’s an example, I’m sliding PITCH and RETRIG as well as filters in this video to create zippery sounds on the Octatrack Audio tracks. I believe the Monomachine can slide MIDI CC but I’ve never used one
Thank you! This was a project for college I made in Unity (I studied Interactive Art). I’m actually sequencing GLSL shader parameters with the Octatrack via MIDI CC so the audio and visuals are playing back in realtime concurrently and I’m just screen recording the output
I bought my TX-6 there (I’m located in Germany). But after some time I had an issue with the device so I sent it back for repair. Communication was great but somehow the package did not make it to their location. They weren’t able to pick it up at the UPS station either. So after a month of waiting it came back unfixed and I had to pay 80 euros for shipping. Fortunately after that nightmare TE service was so kind to fix it without involving the dealer.
I think it’s how the sequencer is programmed. Most sequencers I’ve used are causal like notes are played back without knowing what future notes look like. Non-causal sequencers like the OG Elektrons are intelligent enough to know what parameters settings are for notes that exist in the future (ie. A note on step 1 with it’s filter cutoff set to 0 knows what step 16’s filter cutoff is). You can then place a parameter slide on step 1 to smoothly interpolate the filter opening up in the span of 16 steps.
I think the Toriaz Squid can do this as well but you can only lock up to four MIDI CCs and maybe the Hapax. The Dirtywave M8 has the REP Sequencer FX that can sort of do something similar but you’re also limited to three parameters you can modify at once unfortunately and it’s still causal.
From what I’ve gathered the OP-XY smoothing isn’t as controllable as it blends all parameter locks without having the ability to specify when to activate the smoothing / having it off.
