Teenage Engineering EP-133 K.O. II

I think they manufactured and sold a ton of these. It sounds like it’s been somewhat ready for 6 months from what I’ve read. I believe a vocal minority are either getting defective sliders or are jamming on the fader cap too hard ruining the slider. Mine was very tight to cap. The other cause may be how the unit slides out sideways from the packaging, bending the fader to the left if it’s caught on the packaging.

I filed the edges of my key caps just now and the buttons aren’t sticking anymore, and thankfully my fader seems 100% functional and accurate.

Hopefully it’s that, and a silent majority.

Damage due to packaging, or finish and fit, is still a problem that needs to be addressed.

I wonder if the Innofader mini can work on this
I mean if you end up desoldering… at least put some quality part instead The Innofader - Home

Please do not try to fix the damn thing while still under warranty!!! This will cause problems for everyone. Just trade it in for a new one asap.

The last thing I want is buying something secondhand that’s only a few months old where some person had been attacking it with a solder iron.

The problem is a new one will have the same crappy fader

Return it for a refund and don’t get a new one until TE fixed it.

Still haven’t got my shipping notification. I’m just planning here. Hopefully I’ll end up with a good unit.

Sounds potentially like those who like turning screws and are DIY oriented might open it up even if their unit is fine and determine whether a specific width of plastic insert under the fader is worth doing just to support it better.

I may be wrong but the description of the fault appears to be due to the fader standing proud of the board it’s on, supported only by its thin metal appendages.

I have no hardware issues here. The manual needs some revision though (and would prefer a PDF version). Was looking for a way to wipe a project now, and the manual said this is achieved by holding SHIFT + ERASE + # while in MAIN. It’s actually done by holding MAIN + ERASE and #

Two people I know had the slider broken straight outta box. So glad I passed on this.

This fader shit starts to scare me off, but well, fingers crossed my unit works fine (no shipping details yet)

If I have to send it back we still got this boys

I would never solder something that’s broken on arrival. Send it back and demand a fix.
If you break it you payed for nothing.

TE seems to do a 24/7 atm to get the orders out. I have received my shipping confirmation this morning and it‘s a Sunday morning.
Ordered about 2,5 hrs after launch

Are ppl fascinated with this machine bc it’s not expensive or bc it’s really capable and fun?
Would they still be fascinated if it costed 1999 dollars?

Got one from Sneakerstuff, still no shipping info or anything, will see what happens.

Even with the fader issues I’d be happy to get it and pray it’s fine, if not, well we’ll see.

Only other piece of TE gear I’ve ever had is the OPZ, and I straight up didn’t like it. The non sampled sounds were all super siney and pitchy. As a portable sampler I hope the KOII makes it through a rough start.

And straight up, it’s gorgeous.

That’s what I’m hoping haha. Still not got any tracking info so TE must be pulling all nighters to fix all the ones that have yet to ship yeah?…. Yeah?! …. Thought so.

If it had field build quality and usb audio i think i would wanted it for a field price. But would maby been 1200 dollar or something then

I dont really understand the appeal of this, other than that it’s a nice looking premium TE product

Workflow and sequencer for me
