Is that already possible by manually assigning each pad in group A to say midi ch 1 then each pad in group B to say midi channel 2 and so on? Not sure what your intended outcome is though.
This! I sold my circuit rhythm for the ko2. I now miss the resample option and recording the input while playing a pattern. Did not think I would miss it so much. And yes I knew before hand the ko2 did not have these features.
nah i tried thatā¦for incoming midi messages its a single omni for all
My KO2 is parked atm until they release the firmware update with the promised resampling. I thought about selling it, but used prices here are around 250ā¬, so I figured Iāll just park it and come back to it when a few more features have been released.
Itās a cool device though, very fast, fun.
tell ya the truth i hadnt considered that some people may have sold their resampling capable devices in order to buy the ep133, i can see how that would be frustrating.
i appreciate how i am more focused on composing on the ep133. all of my ep133 beats end up recorded into the sp404 and i just use that stage to add all the effects one might add in the composition stage with resampling. its not as precise so this method certainly wont work for everyone but i would also argue embracing this limitation has helped me develop a sound of my own.
sometimes i worry the communities desire for homogenization of features/workflows leads to greater homogenization of sounds produced
I had to google translate the last part of your reply, English is not my native language. I had to read the translation a few time, before the knowledge was absorbed thank you
I donāt really use my ep133, I do find the workflow a bit unenjoyable when compared to the LoFi12 or Circuit Rhythm, but also the lack of stuff like mutes for individual sounds seems like a massive oversight.
Iāll probably keep hold of it as a secondary drum machine/sampler as I do think it sounds quite nice.
ahhhā¦Incoming midi, got it.
Iāve had mine for a week now and these are my thoughts so far:
Foremost, there is some kind of voodoo magic going on with recording of the finger drumming. First, the pads are much more responsive compared to other samplers like the Digitakt, M:S, etc. Second, whatever I play ends up in this beautiful Dilla-esque, slow-summer-day kind of lo-fi beat. I have a Maschine MK3 and had a Push 2 and a Launchpad MK3, which are all really good for finger drumming but I swear there is someting in the EP-133 that makes the recording of my finger drumming magical. Maybe itās the sound of the samples but itās like everything is more glued when Iām not exactly on the beat whereas with other devices it doesnāt come together as well when Iām slightly behind/ahead of the beat. I donāt like hip hop. I donāt make hip hop music. But with this maigcal device, I suddenly want to make hip hop beats. Go figure.
Another thing I love compared to other standalone samplers/sample-players (and I have four right now (EP-133, Volca Sample 2, Digitakt, and the Polyend Play), is the variety of FX/looping. So, there are punch-in FX, which means I donāt have to menu dive or turn knobs. Itās very immediate, which means I can use them more. Then there is the looping function, which loops sections of the entire scene (four groups at once). And there is the timing (retrig) function, which is recordable, unlike the first two. So combining all three - and they are fast to use since there is virtually no menu - makes the instrument very playable, especially when added to the surprisingly decent finger drumming ability of the machine.
Then add to that the instant jump between the scenes, instead of the pattern starting from the beginning, and the recordable fader FX, and the speed with which you can increase pattern lengths and delete patterns, etc., and it becomes even more playable in a non-stop, flowing kind of way.
The sample transfer app has to be the easiest that Iāve ever used for a device. Plus itās pretty And the batteries last forever.
Then there are annoying things that Iām sure have been mentioned many times: the fader for setting the level (have to remember to select Level to activate volume again on the group, which is sometimes cumbersome), lack of basic muting options, no sample looping, no recordable punch-in FX, no resampling. It would be nice to be able to select a scene instead of having to scroll through other scenes to get to it. An EQ would have been nice since itās a sampler (love it on the Volca).
Overall, I have been enjoying this a lot more than I thought I would. If I had to pick a word it would be āplayable.ā Yeah the Polyend Play and Volca are playable but not in the same way as the EP-133 especially because they donāt have that finger drumming aspect the EP-133 has.
Hold scene (MAIN BUTTON) and press the numerical numbers on the keypads to jump to which scene you want.
Itās also possible to have the scenes transition on beat in the settings, which I know some folk have missed.
i think this has been the secret sauce for me too. i think the way the quantize works is just so musically spot on, much more so than on other machines iāve used. even when its off of what i intended to play, it sounds dank.
To what do you usually quantize to? 16th?
yup mine stays locked on 16ths, very occasionally ill go into free timing if i want to do some super rapid stuff
I wish KOII quantize had a āstrengthā parameter.
Itās funny.
This is why people have been into the mpc for years⦠thru are the same way, they hit different with drums. Itās like other boxes are made to sound like techno and they have this swing them that just sounds amazingā¦
Iām glad new users are coming to the dark side!! I love elektron too btwā¦lol
Can anyone help with syncing or midi-ing the EP-133 to the Roland S-1 synth?
What cable and settings would I need?
You can connect the EP to S-1 via MIDI with a 3.5mm TRS stereo cables.
You might be able to do it directly via USB?
you can not do it directly via usb, it is not a midi host. you will need to use the TRS midi or use a midi host in between the two to use USB
i dont think so, maybe im wrong but thats not a midi host. im thinking something like one of these guys
