Teenage Engineering EP-133 K.O. II

KO II dimensions: 240 mm x 176 mm x 16 mm …
Samples: 270mm x 180 mm x 40mm …

feels like we need a neoprene sleeve for the KO to bulk it up a bit, and then this is a nice outer case.

I wouldn’t use it unless it has a Decksaver on. I have this case for my cycles and it’s very nice.

How is it any different then the TE one? Genuinely curious…
You just like the way it looks better? The TE one is pretty cool… to each their own though.

if anything I don’t like bags that say ‘steal me’ on them. black and anonymous all the way, maybe with a tiny logo

yeah, think it looks better. also half the price.

I think more people would recognize the elektron logo then some Japanese characters and a ko2 ep133 badge… only musicians really know what any of this means anyway, the black one looked like something expensive is in it to me and the TE one looks like it has some toy in it…lol.
I can’t believe the elektron is half the price! That is reason enough… man that little TE bag is expensive…:money_mouth_face:

i really love how easy it is to make variations on patterns with this lil dude. kinda wrestled with fader automation on this one, i tried to automate a bunch of different fader values in the last few scenes and it took a few tries to get what i wanted but i think i got it.

Does anyone have a good solution for syncing the EP133 to IOS apps like Note?

As I get to know the machine better I’m using the combo of EP133 and Note more and more, using note to write simple hooks over beats I made on the KO.

Despite having the same tempo, there is a drift after pressing play at the same time and I’d like to find a simple way of syncing the midi clock between them.

I’m unaware of any way to sync apps with outboard gear but maybe it’s possible. Bear in mind I already have the 35mm Jack to lightning in place on the phone to monitor/record in on the KO.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Could this work? Haven’t tried it.

Your dad was a fucking hero!

I managed to snatch up a b-stock KOII from Thomann Germany for 50€ off. The previous owner even forgot to take out the batteries. New units are still expected to be delivered at the end of March, so I’m quite happy to have it now, for less money, and a set of batteries on top!
The KOII seems very solid, fader and speaker are working without issues, love the buttons, screen, and overall aesthetics. Sounds great as well! Haven’t had too much time with it yet, but I think I already like the master compressor better than the one on the op-1f.

My first song on the Ep-133. Work in progress.

You can dance fast to a slow song by mentally doubling the tempo :joy: Love is real. Good advice from dad.

I spent the weekend experimenting with the K.O. II as a MIDI sequencer. It’s not going to run Elektron or Oxi out of town, but considering you can have polyphonic MIDI out for each pad, you can do some serious MIDI controlling with this thing.

I found making MIDI sequences with the keys tough, so instead I made them in DAW, recorded them into empty pads on the KO II, and in that way was able to really quickly build up scenes and patterns. Then I sent them back into the DAW to play Baby Audio Atoms. Here’s what I came up with:

The single best thing I’ve read in ages - thank you for sharing. Bit emotional now, TBH. The track is great, too.

hey hey! finally made an account so I don’t have to lurk here anymore haha

just wanted to say that ko2 been my favourite instrument last three months and i’ve barely used anything else really, kinda reminds me fun times getting lost with op-1 when i first got it.

today i spent whole morning bouncing projects so i could wipe it again and work on some more. that project/file management tool is much needed at this point, looking fwd to the next update!

PS: lovely stuff you guys

Present me to past me: …almost, you almost distract me, T.E. , from the mother of all samplers and effectors: Octatrack.

And it has a slider too.

Hey everyone, loved the workflow and took me a week to master shortcuts!

Despite such, the other day went to upload and swap some samples, and what do you know, not recognised anymore via usb.

This was a later batch with protector on fader. Could the latest update be related?

I have tried numerous laptops and OSes (actually on windows pings: USB device not recognised)

Since discovered that holding Record and Play button + PWR on brings to a display “RDY” and laptop symbol. So I guess it’s waiting for a firmware update. Yet is not recognised.

Pressing Plus and Minus, bring the device to a self oscillating test and button/fader testing.

I have since contacted support, and despite the slow reply, I’ve got to discover that warranty is bound to retailer where you bought it from.
In my case a different country. Oh well.

Nonetheless if anyone experienced the same and wants to chip in conversation, that would be appreciated.
G’day !

Sorry to ask the obvious question, but are you using the sample manager program linked on teenage engineering’s website? The KO II never shows up for me as a regular USB device, but the TE software always seems to work fine with it anyway.

have you tried doing a system format?
